Raymond R. “Ray” Tapper, Sr., age 89 of DuBois, PA passed away peacefully at the DuBois Nursing Home on Saturday, July 9, 2022.

 

Born on November 4, 1932 in Brookville, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph R. Tapper and the late Grace V. Johnston Tapper. Ray graduated from Sandy High School in 1951.

 

Ray married Patricia “Pat” Connor in 1953 in Luthersburg, PA. She preceded him in death on October 7, 2016.

 

Ray served during the Korean War as a Corporal from 1953 – 1955. He worked at the A&P grocery store for 31 years and for the DuBois Area Schools as custodian for 10 years.

 

In his earlier years, Ray enjoyed hunting, riding motorcycles, and working on cars, trucks and mowers.

 

He liked working on crossword puzzles and being outside gardening and working in the yard. Ray enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and sharing stories of his past.

 

Ray is survived by a son, Raymond “Rick” Tapper, Jr., and a daughter Mona (Brandyn) Seary of DuBois, PA, grandchildren Jason (Brandy) Tapper of Penfield, PA and Jacqueline Tapper (Mike Foster); Rachel (Derek) Allen, and Rebecca Seary (Shawn Schaffer) all of DuBois, PA, and great grandson, Luke Tapper.

 

Ray was preceded in death by his wife Pat, his oldest son Gary Tapper in May of 2018, and a sister Marian Gray, in April of 2019.

 

The family would like to thank Penn Highlands Hospice and the staff of the 3rd floor DuBois Nursing Home for the kindness, compassion and exceptional care they provided to Ray.

 

Memorial donations can be made to the DuBois Nursing Home, 282 South 8th Street, DuBois, PA and/or a charity of the donor’s choice.

 

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 from 5 – 7 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.

 

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 7 PM from the funeral home with Pastor Jim Fillhart officiating.

 

Burial will take place in Morningside Cemetery.
