It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Garnet L Jacobson, age 82, of DuBois, PA. She passed away at her home on Saturday, January 7, 2023 after an extended illness. She is now walking in the gardens of heaven in the presence of her Creator.

 
Born on August 10, 1940 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Vivian (Kelly) Vandervort.

Garnet is survived by her loving husband John B Jacobson, Sr. with whom she married on December 1, 1956. They celebrated 66 years together this past December.

Garnet worked at various jobs including, Goodrich, Carols Cake Decorating and Steeple Furniture; but her true calling in life was being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and home maker. She was an active member of Tri County Church since 2000, and loved to cook, travel, and to take daily walks with her husband and daughter. She also enjoyed fellowship with her friends and family.

Garnet is also survived by her four children who loved her dearly: John (Jenny) Jacobson Jr, Ronald (Cookie) Jacobson, Donald (Lorie) Jacobson and Michele (Jeff) Wray, all of DuBois, PA.  She was Nanny to and is survived by her nine grandchildren: Justin (Gretchen) Jacobson, Aaron (Jessica) Jacobson, Mike (Jenna) Jacobson, John R. Jacobson, Steve Jacobson, Vanessa (Derek) Lettich, Alyssa Jacobson, Brittany Wray and Alexis Wray, and by her 5 great grandchildren: Owen, Ava, Eli, Corbin and Briggs Jacobson.  She is also survived by one brother, Robert Vandervort of Springville, NY and several nieces, nephews and their families, who all held a special place in her heart. She loved being their Aunt Garnie.

Garnet is preceded in death by her parents, her two sisters, Shirley Davie and Belva Strouse, and a brother Paul Vandervort.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Wendy and Lori of DuBois Penn Highlands Hospice for their kindness and care.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 11 a.m. from the funeral home with Pastor Chris Tretheway and Richard Durr co officiating.

|Burial will follow in Morningside Cemetery.

Memorial may be placed with the Gateway Humane Society, P.O. Box 678, Falls Creek, PA, 15840 and/or Tri County Church, 1881Old 255 Road, DuBois, PA 15801.
