Administrators Pompeii Posted January 24, 2023 Administrators Share Posted January 24, 2023 Dorothy M. Place, age 89 of Reynoldsville, PA died Monday, January 23, 2023 at Christ The King Manor. Born on September 7, 1933 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Melva (Lockyer) Hand. She was married to Marion L. Place. He preceded her in death on November 15, 1991. Dorothy was a homemaker. She was very active in the Sykesville American Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, embroidery, playing solitaire and cooking. She is survived by her children; Valerie Baka of Upper Marlboro, MD, Danita Freemer and her husband Phillip and James Place and his wife Vera, both of DuBois, PA and Jeffrey Place of Reynoldsville, PA, six grandchildren, a great granddaughter Cheyenne Leppert whom she raised as well as fifteen other great grandchildren, one sister; Melva Hollopeter of DuBois, PA and one brother ; John Hand, Jr. of Kersey, PA. Dorothy was also preceded in death by her siblings; James Hand, Mildred Shaffer, Virginia Stitt and Betty Sliviak. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2023 from 4 – 7 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 27, 2023 at 11 AM with Pastor Terry Felt officiating. Burial will follow in Lakelawn Memorial Park. Memorial donation may be made to the Hahne Cancer Center, 100 Hospital Drive, DuBois, PA 15801.
