Wantuck, Richard.jpg
Richard Wantuck, age 85 of Rockton, PA passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 25, 2023 in his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born on September 4, 1937 in Wilcox, PA, he was the son of the late John and Felicia (Gapinski) Wantuck. He was the oldest of three children.

Richard graduated in 1955. He completed his training in heavy equipment and then joined the United States Marine Corps in 1957. Richard met his wife, Sharon Sue McClymonds in Camp Lejeune, NC where  they both served. They were married in December of 1961. They returned to Pennsylvania where they welcomed their three daughters.

Richard accepted a position with United Parcel Service (UPS) when he was 27 years old. He stayed with the company for 30 years. Richard had an incredible work ethic which earned him the respect of peers, supervisors and subordinates alike. After retirement, Richard and Sharon enjoyed many years of travel and leisure with friends and family. Their frequent trips to sunshine and beaches left them with the healthy glow of life. Richard spent much of his time outdoors tending his garden and yard, hunting and taking nature photos. He began volunteering with the DuBois Area Honor Guard in 2003. He proudly served in the position of commander in recent years.

Richard’s entire life was one of work and services. The central focus for this was his family. Richard was a devoted husband, Daddy, and Pop Pop. The love and pride he held for his family was evident in his every word and deed. He found true joy in the lives of his children and grandchildren. He especially enjoyed attending his granddaughter’s sporting events, where he could be found on the sidelines of every game, cheering, supporting, and tracking averages.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sharon Sue Wantuck of Home Camp, his daughters Theresa Lynn Liddle and her husband Robert of DuBois, Laura Ann Wantuck of Home Camp, and Regina Marie Rupert and her husband Chuck of Springboro, PA, his four granddaughters Sarah Johnston, Samantha Liddle, Zoe Rupert and Rebecca Liddle, his sister Bernice Morgan and her husband John of Wilcox, PA, brother Raymond Wantuck and his wife Sherry of Brockway, PA as well as many dearly loved nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his beloved only grandson John Jason Wantuck. We find peace in the knowledge that they are now reunited in the loving presence of God.
