Sandra M. “Sandy” Gahr, age 81 of DuBois, PA died Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Christ the King Manor.

 

Born on December 15, 1941 in St. Marys, PA, she was the daughter of the late Leo Hayes  and Palma (Jeanette) Hayes Saline.

 

On May 11, 1963 she married her husband of 60 years, John E. “Jack” Gahr. He survives.

 

Sandy had worked as a waitress at Hoss’s Steak & Sea House. She also worked as a teacher’s aide at both Headstart and Paint n’ Play School.

 

She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church. Sandy enjoyed playing Bunco and loved to hold gatherings in her home. Most of all, she loved following her family and all of their many activities and events.

 

Sandy is survived by her three children (Jackie Allshouse and her husband Jerry of Butler, PA, Sean Gahr and his wife Brenda of DuBois, PA and  Michele Gearhart and her husband Bob of DuBois, PA), six grandchildren (Amber Garrison (Jake), Jenessa Martin (Mike), Colton Gearhart (Rachel), Jeremiah Allshouse (Mackenzie), Lindsay Zimmerman (Bret) and Austin Gahr (McKenzie),seven great grandchildren (Evangeline, Oakleigh, Ryleigh, Bayleigh, Maverick, Micah and Connor), one sister (Nancy Swanson of Langhorne, PA) , one brother (George Saline and his wife Renee of Ridgway, PA) . She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

 

She was also preceded in death by her stepfather George Saline.

 

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 10, 2023 from 2 – 4 PM and 6 – 8 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at                10 AM from St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.

 

The funeral mass will be live streamed and can be viewed by visiting www.facebook.com/stcatherineofsienaromancatholicchurch.

 

Burial will follow in St. Catherine Cemetery.
