Veronesi, John N. Dr. Good One.jpg
Dr. John N. Veronesi, known to his family and friends as Daddy Jack or Doc V, passed away on September 3, 2023, at Christ the King Manor in DuBois, PA.

The eldest son of Vannie (née Manning) and Nemo Veronesi, he was born on October 13, 1931, at the Veronesi Farm on Gardner Hill in Weedville, PA.

From a young age, Jack dreamt of becoming a physician. After graduating from Bennett’s Valley High School in 1949, he attended St. Bonaventure University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology. He then went on to attend the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine at A.T. Still University in Kirksville, MO, where he received his Doctor of Osteopathy Degree. It was there that he met and married the love of his life, and his wife of 66 years, Judith Moore.

In 1961, Jack started his medical practice in Cambridge Springs, PA. At a time before many hospitals had emergency rooms, he was among the last of the "family doctors.” He delivered babies, made house calls, and was on call for his patients day and night. Jacks practice grew rapidly, and after four years he took a partner, Dr. Edward Owens. Together they built and established a state-of-the-art medical clinic to better serve their patients and the community, which remains active today.

In 1975, the regular hours of the emergency room appealed to Jack—leading him back to his roots in DuBois, where he worked as an ER Physician at DuBois Hospital (now Penn Highlands) until his retirement in 1998.  He was a member of the American Osteopathy Association and the American Medical Association.

Both inside and outside of the ER, Jack was a man of unforgettable charisma and many talents. He loved golfing, hunting, gardening, singing and dancing, and cooking polenta dinners for his family and friends. He was known and loved for his sunny outlook, his sense of humor, and his many memorable catchphrases (coined “Doc V-isms” by his family).

He is survived by his wife Judith, his three children (Robert Veronesi and his wife Meredith and Brent Veronesi and his wife Robin, both of State College, PA, and Cynthia Delaney and her husband Tom of San Diego, CA), his five  granddaughters, (Alexa, Cami, Julia, Olivia and Victoria), one grandson (Rocco Veronesi) and a brother (Charles Veronesi and his wife Nelvina of Weedville, PA).

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lillian Brown and her husband Donald, his nephew, Jim Brown, and his uncle Dino Veronesi.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023 from 4 pm – 7 pm from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 10 AM from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Force, PA with Father Mark Mastrian as celebrant.

Memorials may be placed with St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 17764 Bennetts Valley Highway, Force, PA 15841 and/or a charity of the donor’s choice.
