Brosky, George.jpg
George Ernest Brosky, age 68, passed away at his home in Falls Creek on September 25 2023, with his wife and daughter Amanda, by his side where he finished his courageous battle with cancer.  Courageous, in that sentence, should not be taken lightly.  George bravely fought, in every way, to stay on this earth with those he loved.

George was modest.  He kept his cancer journey very private to protect happier memories for all who loved him.

He was born on February 2, 1955 to the late George T Brosky and Yvonne Coder Brosky, who survives.  George married his soulmate Linda Weber Brosky. Together, they raised 3 daughters Amanda Sue Young (fiancé Ryan Young), Theresa Marie Riles, and Lesa Rae Calero (husband Donald Calero) and raised a granddaughter Melinda Ann Cox (her significant other Adam Zinz). He is also survived by 4 other grandchildren Jakob Young, Breangela Riles, Brinson Riles JR., and Millie Joy Calero.

He is also survived by his brother William (Judy) Brosky who was one of his most loved and cherished confidants,

11 nieces, 3 nephews, one surviving Uncle Gene(Irene) Coder and his lifelong best friend Danny (Patty) Moyer.

He is also survived by two other siblings Cyndee and Paul.

He was preceded in death by two brothers Tommy and Danny Brosky, his father-in-law and mother-in-law , Glen and Millie Weber, who regarded George very highly.

He had a heart of gold.  Each day you could find him popping in-and-out of his favorite local businesses and churches. He always made a point to smile and chat with neighbors and friends.  His grin was contagious and emitted the great love he had for his community.

Not only would he give a stranger the shirt off his back, you could also find him mowing his neighbors grass or shoveling their driveway.  He taught, through example, how to serve and love others.  He enjoyed volunteering at St. Bernard's church and donating his hard-earned money to the poor. He offered love through acts of service.

George always valued humility, so you may not know he was a talented guitarist, artist and skilled craftsman.  Starting young, he had a knack for fixing old motorcycles and cars.  He believed in preserving old things and breathed new life into household items most may throw away.  He found joy in thrifting to find and fix discarded treasures.

George had a love for nature, camping, swimming and fishing with his kids. He enjoyed hunting with his daughter Theresa, his nephew Jeremy Zawacki, his brother Bill, and his best friend Danny. He seemed to appreciate the experience more than the trophy.  He enjoyed target practice and walking through the woods with loved ones.  He loved golfing with his daughter Lesa, granddaughter Melinda, grandson Jakob and his treasured brother, Bill.

He enjoyed listening to music, especially Classic Rock, Jimi Hendrix and Polkas. He found joy with his daughter, Amanda, by playing the lottery or bar bingo together.  He also loved to read the local newspaper, cover-to-cover, every day.  He was a master of trivia and often recalled interesting facts.

George’s rough hands were proof of a lifetime of hard work.  He started work as a very young golf caddy at The DuBois Country Club and his final job was at the Treasure Lake Golf Course.  He enjoyed these clubhouse memories very much.  He loved working for his amazing boss, Jude, and being a member of “The Over the Hill” gang. In between, he worked with his beloved father in various business ventures.  Together, they ripped out railroad ties and made countless truck deliveries. He also worked at Riverside as a baker and a packer as a teenager.

Humor was George’s greatest quality.  A dad-joke was always at-the-ready.  Even through illness, he was able to bring laughter to those around him.

He was proudly a member of the Pulaski Club of DuBois, The American Legion Post 17, St Bernard's Church and a devout attendee of St Michael's adoration, every Wednesday.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 6, 2023  from 4pm - 7pm at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday October 7, 2023 at  10 a.m. from St Bernard Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.
