Administrators Pompeii Posted September 29, 2023 Administrators Share Posted September 29, 2023 Rose M. Smith, Age 83 of DuBois, PA died Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Christ the King Manor. Born on December 20, 1939, in Olyphant, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Mildred (Rogers) Prosser, Sr. Rose retired as the Executive Director of the DuBois Area Housing Authority after 41 years of service. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in DuBois where she had served as an elder, was a past Sunday school teacher, sang in the choir, was a youth advisor and editor of the church newsletter. Rose was the Past President of the Western Pennsylvania Housing Directors Association and was a past board member of the DuBois Homeless Shelter Task Force and Pennsylvania Association of Housing and Redevelopment Agencies. She recently enjoyed attending Bible study at Lakeside Methodist Church and loved going to the DuBois Community Center and enjoyed attending their many activities. She is survived by a son, Paul W. Smith, III and his wife Jude of DuBois, PA, a daughter, Susan Kohn & her husband Michael of Lexington Park, MD, a granddaughter, Kendahl Belman and her husband Aaron of Littleton, CO, and extended family Brad and Nicole Roberts and family and Matthew and Marlo Marasco and family. She was preceded in death by her brother, Harold Prosser, Jr. and her long time “gentleman friend” Matthew Marasco, Jr. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 2, 2023 from 2 - 4 & 6- 8 pm at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at 11 am from the funeral home with Pastor Terry Felt officiating. Burial will follow in St. Michael Cemetery. Memorials may be placed with a charity of the donor’s choice in the DuBois area.
