Administrators Pompeii Posted October 13, 2023 Administrators Share Posted October 13, 2023 Steven A. Gertz, age 64 of Falls Creek, PA died Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at his home. Born on July 22, 1959 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Albert and Mabel (Rishell) Gertz. On April 27, 2013 he married Alison (Nicol) Gertz. She survives. Steve was the owner and operator of Gertz Rental and was previously the owner of Gertz Electric for 27 years. He was a member of the Treasure Lake Church and was very involved in the DuBois Area YMCA where he loved to play racquetball and lift weights. He also served on the YMCA Board of Directors. Steve loved being outdoors where he enjoyed planting trees, bike riding and tending to his koi pond. Steve is survived by his three sons (Joshua Gertz and his wife Brooke of State College, PA, Erik Gertz and his wife Jenny and Matt Gertz and Fransheska, both of Pittsburgh, PA), eight grandchildren (Reese, Easton & Tripp, Aria, Luca, Ezili, Santiago “Jimmy” and Evie), and siblings (Becky Wright and her husband Les of Buffalo, NY, Janet McElveen of Florida, Linda Romeo of Wyomissing, PA, Ed Kirkland and his wife Nancy of Ocean Isle, NC, Jeanie Kirkland of DuBois, PA and Lois Marshall of Georgia). Visitation will be held on Monday, October 16, 2023 from 4 – 7 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at 11 AM from the Treasure Lake Church with Pastor David Ginn officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Hahne Cancer Center, 100 Hospital Avenue, DuBois, PA 15801.
