William B. “Billy” Aughenbaugh, age  60 of DuBois, PA, died Sunday, October 15, 2023 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital.


Born on May 18, 1963 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Curtis “Art” and Lois Ann (Dungey) Aughenbaugh.


For most of his life Billy worked in the construction field.


Although he had no children of his own, he loved his nieces and nephews as if they were his. He loved spending time with his family, he looked forward to the holidays, the annual summer picnic and vacations. He cherished every moment he had with family.


Billy was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins fan. He was a member of the Independent Political and Social Club and the Olympic Athletic Club.


He was raised in the Episcopal Church of Our Savior where he had served as an acolyte, an altar boy and sang in the church choir. At a very young age  he was an accomplished pianist and organist, and has performed in many recitals in our area. Also at a young age, Billy was a champion quarter midget racer, winning championships and racing through Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania.


Billy is survived by his siblings (Linda O’Dell and her husband John of La Grange, NC, Richard “Lee” Aughenbaugh and his wife Jeanne of Macon, GA, Curtis A. “Buster” Aughenbaugh, Jr. and his wife Judy, and James S. Aughenbaugh and his wife Lynn both of DuBois, PA), as well as many nieces and nephews and his longtime best friend Thomas “Koch” Coccimiglio.


Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 from 4 – 7 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.


A private funeral service will be held.


Burai will take place in Morningside Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Challenger Baseball League, PO Box 71, DuBois, PA 15801 and/or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN38105.
