Lester G. Wachob, age 95, of Luthersburg, PA passed away on November 13, 2023 at his home.

Les was born on March 7, 1928, to the late Thomas B. and Hazel (Doubles) Wachob in Luthersburg.

He married Esther (Thompson) Wachob on December 24, 1945.  She proceeded him in death on September 22, 2009.

Lester was born and worked on the family dairy farm growing up, eventually buying ownership. He owned and farmed Wachob Dairy, the family business, until he retired from the farm in 2004. In his younger days, he worked in the local coal mines, and worked for his brother Charles doing TV repairs and antenna installations.

Lester was elected a Brady Township Supervisor and held the position of Road Supervisor for 48 years. During his tenure, he took the roads of Brady Township from nearly impassible muddy paths to all roads being easily passible and the vast majority now being paved and maintained to a level not seen since his retirement. Under his leadership as a Supervisor, Brady Township purchased the old Brady Township Elementary and High School Buildings, and using the physical labor of himself, other township supervisors and township employees converted and expanded these buildings in to the well-known Brady Township Community Center. During his tenure as a township supervisor, he held the position of President of Clearfield County Township Officials for 25 years.  He also served on the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors Board of Directors and was eventually elected President and held that post for several years. He was awarded the first ever Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors Presidential Leadership Award during his tenure.

Lester was a founding member of the Brady Township Fire Department and then its expansion including ambulance service. He served as Fire Chief of the Fire Department for 13 years.

In addition, Lester was instrumental in the founding of the Brady Township-Troutville Borough Water Association and served as its President for over 40 years. Under his leadership and with hands-on work, the Water Association expanded from a little over 200 members to over 700 members today. Lester participated, along with many community members, in the actual laying of expansion water lines down nearly every road with access to the main lines, even expanding the system to Bloom Township, the village of Chestnut Grove and slightly beyond.

Lester served his community tirelessly and was involved in some way with nearly all community projects, including ball parks, playgrounds, community milestone celebrations and more. He helped design and build the Luthersburg United Methodist Church building.

He is survived by his sons Thomas D. (Colleen) Wachob and Robert G. (Judy) Wachob, all of Luthersburg, nine grandchildren, three great grandsons and one great-great granddaughter and his daughter-in-law Martha Wachob.

He was proceeded in death by four brothers, Lynn, Fred, James and Charles, three sisters, Annabelle (Hartzfeld), Margaret (Stull), and Delores (Griffiths), and recently his son William in December of 2022. He was the last surviving member of his childhood family.

Friends and family will be received Friday, November 17, 2023 from 2 pm until 4 pm and from 6 pm until 8 pm at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 11 am  from the Luthersburg United Methodist Church with Pastor Rick Howe officiating.

Interment will be in the Luthersburg Union Cemetery.
