Jeannine Y. Yahner, 94, formerly of Patton, PA, left us to be with the Lord at Highland View Healthcare in Brockway, PA  on November 14, 2023.


Born on May 17, 1929, in Patton, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Fox) Zern.


Jeannine married Albert J. Yahner on September 6, 1947.  Together, they ran Yahner’s TV Sales and Service.  Albert passed away in 1965.


Jeannine put herself through St. Francis College after his death receiving her degree in Library Science.


She was first employed by the Patton Public Library, but then worked for Cambria Heights School District as a librarian’s aide.  In her later years, she served the district as a Special Education aide.  She retired after 25 years of service.  She also received her Certified Nursing Assistant’s degree and took care of the elderly in the evenings and weekends. 
 

 She was an active member of the Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church in Patton where she served as a lector, eucharistic minister, catechist, choir member, and funeral luncheon committee member.  She was a member of the Rosary Society, the Catholic Daughters of America,  St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Cresson Play House, and Music Club.  Jeannine was a founding member of the Patton Pavers and  Patton Community Garden. Jeannine enjoyed Broadway musicals and traveling, along with taking care of her family.
 

Jeannine is survived by her daughter Debera (Frank) Damratoski of Houston, TX,  and sons Robert  of New York City, NY, Jody (Patty)  of York, PA, Edward (Mary Beth) of Brockway, PA, and Brian Yahner of Conyngham, PA.  She is also survived by her grandchildren David (Tina) Damratoski, Dana (Matthew) Barger; Tammy (David) Snyder, Tracy Yahner; Janelle Yahner, Joshua (Courtney) Yahner; Joel (Katiana), Gavin, Pierce, and Reese Yahner; and Kaleb Yahner.  Jeannine also has six great grandchildren that warmed her heart: Luke and Kate Damratoski,  Kailey and Zachary Barger,  and Lydia and Daphne Yahner.  


Jeannine was the last member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by her sisters Alberta Warner, Mildred Petre, Mae Eberhardt, Rose Rhody,  Louise Toner, Bernice Brehm and brothers Ed, Fred, Henry, James, and John “Dugan” Zern.   

She was also preceded in death by her son Randy Yahner and daughter Michelle Litzinger.


Viewing for Jeannine will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023 from 3 – 5 PM & 6 – 8 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., 211 South Main Street, DuBois, PA. A scriptural wake service will be prayed at 7:45 PM by Msgr. Charles Kaza.


 A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 1:30 PM from Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church in Patton, PA with Father Ananias, O.S.B. as celebrant.


Interment will be at Queen of Peace Cemetery in Patton.


In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Brockway Elementary We Care Fund, 40 North Street, Brockway, PA 15824.
