Our loving mother, Sarah “Lorraine” Monikowski left this earth on November 29, 2023 to be with our Lord, and her beloved husband, Allen A. Monikowski, who was the love of her life.  Sarah Lorraine was the daughter of the late Paul E. Schultz and Esther (Rearick) Schultz.  Lorraine was preceded in death by an infant son Steven Allen Monikowski, two brothers, Paul E. Schultz Jr.,  William C. Schultz and sister Helen (Schultz) Peterson.


Lorraine was born February 4th, 1930 in Snow Shoe, PA. She resided in DuBois most of her life, and graduated from DuBois Area High School, Class of 1947. Lorraine was active in many activities while in school, and had been quite involved with organizing her class reunions, other alumni activities, and involvement with the DuBois High School Scholarship Fund.


On September 2, 1947, Lorraine eloped with her beloved Allen A. Monikowski. They share three children, Frank A. Monikowski and his wife Rhonda of Freedom, PA, and JoAnn McCloskey, and Patricia Freas, both of DuBois, PA.


Lorraine and Allen owned and operated the White Front Market,  West Long Avenue, DuBois, PA  for 23 years.  Following the closing of their market, Lorraine was employed by the Deposit Bank in DuBois for 17 years.  She retired in 1995.  During her retirement, she enjoyed traveling with family to many different states in the U.S. She particularly enjoyed visiting with family and friends. Her family was her greatest joy, and she loved cooking and celebrating.


Lorraine was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. She was a former Eucharistic Minister, and a member of the Rosary Infant of Prague Society where she served as past president. She was active in St. Michael’s festivals, was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 813, Christ the King Auxiliary and a volunteer for DRMC and Red Cross Blood Mobile.


In addition to her children, Lorraine is survived by her ten grandchildren; (Sandi McCloskey McElravy (Bryan), Thomas M. McCloskey II, Daniel McCloskey, Richard McCloskey (Rebecca), Sean Monikowski (Lindsay), Jeremy Monikowski (Laura), Courtney Cochran (Tommy), Luke Monikowski, Steven Freas (Jaclyn), Kevin Freas (Nicole), and her twelve great grandchildren who she loved so very much; Madison, Tommy III, Jordan, Peyton, Richard, Annika, Tyler, Delaney, Bella, June, Eve, and Livi. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and their families.


Viewing will be held  Sunday, December 3, 2023 from 1 - 4 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc., DuBois, PA. The rosary will be prayed on Sunday at 12:30 PM.

 
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 4, 2023 at 11:00 AM from  St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic  Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.


Burial will take place in St. Michael Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to DuBois Central Catholic, PO Box 567 and/or, DuBois Area School Alumni and Educational Foundation, 500 Liberty Boulevard, both in DuBois, PA 15801.
