Richards, Samuel C., Jr..jpg
Samuel Clark Richards, Jr., age 86 of DuBois, PA died Friday, February 9, 2024 at his home.

Born on  July 1, 1937 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Samuel Clark and Floyd Marie (Schopf) Richards.

On June 21, 1969 he married his wife of 54 years, Sandra Lee (Bundy) Richards. She survives.

Sam was a beloved art teacher at the DuBois Area High School for 38 years. After his retirement he volunteered his time and talents teaching at the DuBois Christian School.

His gift was teaching the Bible and art and he did it so well.  He was an excellent track and field coach for DuBois High School and DuBois Christian Schools for many years.  He also enjoyed broadcasting Little League Baseball and high school football on WDBA radio.  He loved to spend time hunting and fishing with his family and friends, and in later years, he enjoyed looking at the view out of his living room window.  We are certain he will be remembered most for his reminders to watch for those God appointments and his loving challenge to everyone he met with the phrase “How are you and Jesus doing?”

Sam is also survived by his children; (Rebecca Marie Hoover and her husband Bradley, of DuBois, PA, Samuel Stephen Richards and his wife Stacee, of Luthersburg, PA, Daniel Allen Richards and his wife Robina “Bobbi” of DuBois, PA), grandchildren; (Garrett, Graham, Gavin and Gabriel Hoover, Emily, Laura and Sophia Richards and Samantha Thompson Betta), great grandchildren (James and Beau Betta and Brooklyn Thompson),and sisters (Jean Marie Hayes of Luthersburg, PA and Martha Joan Stark of East Lansing, Michigan).

Sam was preceded in death by one grandson, Tyler Thompson.

There will be no public visitation .

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at 1 PM from First Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Montgomery officiating.

Burial will take place in Morningside Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to DuBois Christian School Scholarship Fund, 197 Eastern Avenue, DuBois, PA 15801.
