  1. Lloyd D. Minns, Age 60, of Short Street, Falls Creek, PA died on Thursday, April 19, 2018 in Brady Township as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

    Born on March 29, 1958 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of Clarence “Sonny” Minns & Alice (Carlson) Harlan.  His mother survives and lives in DuBois with her husband Butch.  His father and his wife, Shirley Minns, preceded him in death.

    Lloyd retired as an over the road truck driver.

    He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and loved to ride his Harley Davidson.  He also enjoyed camping and his dogs Tucker and Bandit.

    He is survived by 4 children (Cori Minns of Reynoldsville, PA; Cameron Minns of Falls Creek, PA; Jared Minns & his wife Deidre of Punxsutawney, PA; and Emily Ross & her husband Donnie of Punxsutawney, PA) 3 sisters (Sandra Donahue & her husband Terry of Sykesville, PA; Patsy Flanders & her husband David of DuBois, PA; and Ruthie Hagan & her husband Ronald of Troutville, PA)2 brothers (Greg Minns & his wife Kris of Greensboro, NC; and Gerry Kriner of DuBois, PA) and 5 grandchildren (Riley Shaffer, Cheyanne Miller, Kiera & Gabriella Ross, and Olivia Minns.)

    There will be no public visitation.

    A private funeral service will be held from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.

  2. Russell J. Kalp, Age 72, of Kalp Road, DuBois, PA 15801 on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at his home.

    Born on August 23, 1945 in Ruffs Dale, PA, he was the son of the late Russell I. and Naomi R. (Cole) Kalp.

    On June 19, 1982 he married Marian “Toots” (Dixon) Kalp. She survives.

    Russell retired from Crown Resorts maintenance department after over 20 years of services. Previous to that he had worked for Latrobe Standard Steel for over 10 years.

    He was a member of the Reynoldsville and Fishers of Men Bass Clubs.  He enjoyed classic cars, fishing and hunting.

    Russell is survived by 2 children (Kelly Kalp of Anchorage, AL and Rusty Kalp; of Ruffs Dale, PA) 2 sisters (Connie and Thelma) and a brother in law (Joe Dixon (Rita) of Sabula, PA).

    Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 22, 2018 from 1-4 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.

    A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 23, 2018 at 10 AM from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. with Pastor Kenneth Sherwood officiating.

    Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.

    Memorials may be placed with the charity of the donor’s choice.

  3. Doris A. Mullen, Age 87 of Nichols Street, Clearfield, PA, formerly of DuBois died on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Penn Highlands DuBois.

    Born on August 19, 1930 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph S. & Irene (Freeman) Marsh.

    She married Paul A. Mullen. He preceded her in death on October 25, 2003.

    Doris retired from the Jackson China Company after 25 years of service.

    She was a member of the Emmanuel Methodist Church in Clearfield.

    Doris is survived by 2 children, John P. Mullen of Colorado and Jackie Harmic & her husband Robert of Clearfield; two sisters, Nancy Long and Jean Billotte both of Clearfield; 3 grandchildren, Steven Harmic & his wife Denise and Ryan & Jamie Mullen and one great grandchild, Audrey Harmic.

    She was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Gale Kruse, Mildred Miller & Evelyn Collins and one brother, Joseph Marsh.

    There will be no public visitation. 

    A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.

  4. Dorothy M. Collins, Age 64, of Daugherty Road, Brockway, PA died on Friday, April 13, 2018 at her home.

    Born on February 24, 1954 in Clearfield, PA, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Blanche (Gearhart) Baum.

    On March 26, 1988, she married her husband of 30 years, Bradley J. Collins. He survives.

    Mrs. Collins worked for Net Shape Technologies.

    She was a member of the Brockway Church of God.  She was also a member of the Edward E. Rafferty American Legion Post 633 Ladies Auxiliary Unit, Brockway Sons of Italy and the James J. Patterson Post 813 Veterans of Foreign Wars. She loved to paint and studied at the Perry Winkler Art Gallery. She enjoyed fishing, hunting and kayaking.

    Dorothy is survived by 3 children, Jack Volpe & his wife Penny of Hornbeck, LA, Amy O’Rourke & her husband Eric and Jess Collins both of Brockway, PA; 2 brothers, Lynn McCracken & his wife Ann of Albany, GA and William McCracken & his wife Francine of Barker, NY; 2 sisters, Frances Davidson & her husband Alan of Mahaffey, PA and Jeanette Starr & her husband John of Grampian, PA; 3 grandchildren, Ben Barber of Pittsburgh, PA , Emily Volpe of Hornbeck, LA and Callie Barber of Brockway, PA.

    Along with her parents Dorothy was preceded in death by a brother, Norman McCracken and a sister, Pam Dickey.

    Friends will be received on Sunday, April 15, 2018 from 3-6 PM at the Brockway Church of God, 85 Charnisky Drive, Brockway, PA 15824.

    A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 16, 2018 at 11 AM from the Brockway Church of God with Pastor David Nagele officiating.

    Burial will be in Beechtree Cemetery.

    Memorial may be placed with the Gateway Humane Society, P.O. Box 678, 1211 Airport Road, Falls Creek, PA 15840 and/or the charity of the donor’s choice.

  5. Edward J. McCauslin, Age 89, of Rockton, PA died on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Christ The King Manor.

    He was born on May 26, 1928, in DuBois, PA, the son of the late George and Ealene (Miller) McCauslin.

    In November 1949, he married his wife of 68 years the former Ruth P. Miles, she survives.

    Mr. McCauslin retired after 33 years as Lieutenant of Police for B & O; C & O; CSX Railroads in New York and Pennsylvania.

    Mr. McCauslin attended the DuBois Christian and Missionary Alliance Church and was the first elected President of the Brady Township Fire Department.  He was Patron member of the National Rifle Association and was an avid hunter and supporter of the 2nd Amendment.  He enjoyed walking and being with his family, especially his grandchildren.

    He is survived by three children; Kevin McCauslin and his wife Kathy of Gig Harbor, Washington; Sherry Murphy and her husband Charles of Rockton; and Douglas McCauslin and his wife Peggy of Rockton.

    4 Grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren survive as well as one sister; Joan Carlini of Brockway.

    Along with his parents, Mr. McCauslin was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Nancy McCauslin & Shirley Wilcox.

    There will be no public visitation.

    Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 11 AM from the DuBois Christian and Missionary Alliance Church with Pastors Richard Derr, Mark Montgomery and Kevin Orndorff co-officiating.

    Memorials may be made to the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 1004 South Main Street, DuBois, PA 15801.

  6. Francis W. Johnson, Age 87, formerly of Hastings, NY died Monday, April 9, 2018 at Christ the King Manor in DuBois, PA.

    Born on March 25, 1931 in Hastings, NY he was the son of the late Harold L. and Hazel (David) Johnson.
    He lived in the Hastings area most of his life.

    Francis is survived by 3 daughters, Susan Shick (Gary) of Pennsylvania and Nancy DeBottis (John) and Heather Johnson both of New York; a brother, Richard Johnson of Fulton, New York; 15 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and 3 great- great grandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by a daughter, Charlotte Prince; a son, Francis W. Johnson, Jr. and his sister, Marian Hollenbeck.

    A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.

  7. Bertha “Jean” Harvey Prutzman, Age 89 of DuBois, PA died Sunday, April 08, 2018 at Nelson’s Golden Years.

    Born on August 20, 1928 in DuBois, PA she was the daughter of the late Archie O. & Grace (Bundy) Apker.

    She was married to William T. Harvey, Sr. He preceded her in death on June 23, 1983.  On January 19, 2002, she married Harold E. Prutzman, he preceded her in death on May 17, 2011.

    Jean was a homemaker, enjoyed gardening, and was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church for over 40 years.

    She is survived by 3 sons (William T. Harvey, Jr. & his wife Carol of DuBois, PA; John R. Harvey of Shinglehouse, PA; and David A. Harvey and his wife Mary of DuBois, PA) 2 daughters (Elizabeth G. Gaeta of Tarentum, PA; and Cathy J. Siple & her husband Rod of DuBois, PA) a sister (Carolyn DePello of DuBois, PA, a step brother (Ronald Thompson of Butler, PA)  13 grandchildren & 14 great grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by her step sister, Carol and 1 grandson (John R. Harvey, Jr.).

    Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 from 5 to 8 p.m. from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc

    A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at 11 A.M. from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. with Pastor Jerry Small officiating.

    Burial will follow in Morningside Cemetery.

  8. Richard M. Johnson, age 90 of Mt. Church Road, Brockport, PA died Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Highland View Health Care in Brockway, PA.

    Born on January 28, 1928 in Ridgway, PA, he was the son of the late George & Marie (Wise) Johnson.

    He was married to Mildred E. (Lehman) Johnson.  She preceded him in death on January 10, 2009.

    He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served in World War II.

    Richard retired as a union carpenter with Local 947 after 60 years of service.

    He is survived 2 sons (Jack E. Johnson & his wife Robin of Brockport, PA and George M. Johnson of Quarryville, PA.), 3 grandchildren (Josh, Justin, & Erica Johnson) and a great grandchild (James Johnson).

    He was preceded in death by his 2 sisters (Betty Erickson & Jean Wagner) and a daughter in law (Tammy Johnson).

    There will be no public visitation and private service will be held at the convenience of the family.

    Burial will be in Oakmont Cemetery, Ridgway, PA.

  9. Geraldine R. “Gerry” Spicher, Age 88, of Union Boulevard, Rockton, PA died on Friday, April 6, 2018 at her home.

    Born on September 16, 1929 in Rockton, PA she is the daughter of the late Cletus and Roxie (Brubaker) Hendricks.

    On June 19, 1948 she married William R. “Bob” Spicher. He preceded her death on December 12, 2002.

    Gerry retired from the DuBois Area School District in food services after 19 years of service.

    She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Rockton where she was very active in many church affairs. She enjoyed traveling, and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren & great grandchildren.

    Gerry is survived by a son, Robert L. Spicher & his wife Sally Jo of DuBois, PA; 2 daughters, Vicki J. Spicher & companion Lew Perry of Supply, NC and Cinde L. Schuckers & her husband Tom of Reynoldsville, PA; 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by a 3 brothers, William, Daniel, and Thomas Hendricks.

    Visitation will be held on Monday, April 9, 2017 from 2-4 PM & 6-8 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc

    A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April, 10, 2018 at 10:30 AM St. John’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Larry Louder and Pastor Richard Steuernagle officiating.

  10. Virginia E. Bojalad, Age 47, of Lincoln Drive, DuBois, PA died Wednesday, April 4 2018 at her home.

    Born on August 16, 1970 in Lock Haven, PA she was the daughter of Lynne (Bowman) Basista of Kittanning, PA and James Wagner (Susie) of Port St. Lucy, FL. Both parents survive.

    On August 4 2012 she married Gary J. Bojalad. He survives.

    She was a 1988 graduate of Kittanning High School and a graduate of Slippery Rock University with a degree in Kinesiology.

    Virginia was a homemaker and had previously worked as a Kinesio therapist for the Veterans Administration in Evansville, IN and Ashville, NC. She received a certificate as a Pharmacy Technician from Brockway Center for Arts and Technology.

    She attended St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church. She was a volunteer at the Free Medical Clinic in DuBois. She was also an avid animal lover that frequently donated her time and money to various animal charities.

    Virginia is survived by her sister, Bonnie Wagner of Yorktown, VA; a brother Michael Basista & his wife Shelia of Allison Park PA; her step father, Thomas Basista of Leechburg, PA and also survived by numerous nieces & nephews and her beloved pets, Charlie & Fang.

    She was preceded in death by her maternal & paternal grandparents and her aunt.

    Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 8, 2018 from 2-6 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.

    A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 9, 2018 at 10:30 AM from St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church with Msgr Richard Siefer as celebrant.

    Burial will be in St. Catherine Cemetery.

  11. Clair H. Clark, Age 54, of Locust Street, Indiana, PA, formerly of DuBois, and Clarion died on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Western Pennsylvania Hospital.

    Born on July 22, 1963 in Oil City, PA he was the son of the late Clair Vanzandt and Myrtle (Irwin) Maxwell.

    He worked at Ship-N-Bill in Shippenville, PA.

    He enjoyed competing in Special Olympics and liked to go bowling. He loved rock-n-roll music and listening to his head phones. He also liked to wear multiple watches and go out to eat.

    Clair is survived by a sister, Maude Clark of Cranberry, PA; a brother, Carson Clark of Clarion, PA; 2 nephews, Don & Mike Clark and 2 great nephews, Cameron & Chase Clark. Also survived by many friends at Fayette Resources and UCIP.

    Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 10, 2018 from 11 AM – 1 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.

    A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 1 PM from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. with Pastor Terry Felt officiating. 

    Burial will be in Heckathorn Cemetery, Venango County.

  12. Robert D. Shafer, Age 60, of Salem Road, DuBois, PA died on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Penn Highlands DuBois.

    Born on November 1, 1957 in DuBois, PA he was the son of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Creighton) Shafer.

    He worked as a truck driver in the gas and oil industry.

    Robert is survived by 2 sons, Robert D. Shafer II & his wife Lydia of Bellefonte, PA and Matthew J. Shafer & his fiancé Rebecca Veltri of DuBois, PA; a brother, Rick Shafer & his wife Tambra of Cheyenne, WY; 2 sisters, Jo Ann Riley & her husband Jack of Santee, SC & Pam Shafer of North Platte, NE; 3 grandchildren, Kazin & Keara Shafer & Kiley Gulley and former spouse, Rebecca Sayers.

    He was preceded in death by a brother.

    His passion was his motorcycle. He rode to Sturgis every year for 30 years. He was a strong and kind man who will be missed by many.

    There will be no public visitation.

    A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
