event = DaFEAT iCan Shine Bike Camp date = June 24th-28th, 2013 location = DuBois Area Middle School contact = akuklinskie@dafeatpa.org Message = DaFEAT (DuBois area Families for Effective Autism Treatment) is a non-profit autism advocacy organization located in DuBois, PA and we wanted to share information regarding an event that we are hosting in June. We are hosting an iCan Shine Bike Camp, June 24th-28th at the DuBois Area Middle School. This is a great camp that teaches individuals with disabilities how to ride a conventional 2-wheel bicycle. As you know, riding a bicycle is a lifelong skill that can be used as exercise, transportation and just for fun. in 2012, the iCan Shine camps had an 80% success rate. The camp has limited spots available, but we have a few left and want to fill the camp up. This is a great event and we'd love to see it reach its full potential. If you know of anyone who may be interested or would like more information. In observance of May 25, National Missing Children’s Day, the Pennsylvania Academy of Cosmetology, will join with other cosmetology schools nationwide by holding a cut-a-thon to raise money for the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children® (NCMEC). This year on May 23, 2013 from 9:00 to 8:00, we will host our 3rd Annual Cut-A-Thon at both of our locations 2445 Bedford Street, Johnstown and 19 North Brady Street, DuBois. Haircuts will cost $5.50 and all our proceeds from hair, skin and nail services from that day will be donated to the center. Our school is participating in this national cut-a-thon because we believe that volunteerism and community service are important to the success and growth of our students and the well-being of our community. With more than 2,000 children reported missing each day, a major focus of the Center is the recovery of missing children. Since its establishment in 1984, the NCMEC has assisted law enforcement in the recovery of more than 183,000 children. Daniel Leaser the owner of the academy would like to invite area salons and businesses to join and support us in this important cause by donating an item, basket or gift certificate for our prize raffles. Thank you to those who helped make last year a success. We hope that we can count on you this year. We will recognize all donors at the event and on our web site. Please advise me of your decision by May 22, 2013. However, we will start to display and sell raffle tickets on all donations as we receive them. You may drop off, mail or request a pick-up of your donation. For more information on the cut-a-thon, call 814-269-3444 or 1-800-353-2839.

  21. 20 ways to reuse coffee grounds, tea leaves It's unlikely that coffee or tea is growing in your garden, so after you finish that cup, put the grounds to work with these clever ideas. ByMelissa Breyer Photo: eclectic echoes/Flickr It takes a brave and hearty (and spartan) soul to give up coffee and tea in the name of food miles. Many do, but morning caffeine is the guilty pleasure that whispers in a voice too alluring for many to resist. One thing is for sure: it's generally a long journey for beans and leaves to travel from exotic climes to the kitchen counter
