  1. The drs gave her 1/2 a bag of fluids before her chemo treatment. She still didn’t want to eat much the next morning. Of course she wouldn’t drink her bottle at all. They called the dr & she said if no luck by 8pm, they must bring her over. Try force feeding if needed by syringe. Well, Brandi started with formula. Faith didn’t like it, but she took everything they put in the back of her throat. If it touches her tongue, she gags & spits it out. Part of that has to do with chemo and she has sensory issues with food & liquids. They got enough in her between yesterday that the dr said she didn’t need to come over to CHP last night!! 🤩🥳😍🥰🤗 They are coming home today!! Thank you for all your Prayers for Baby Faith!!
  2. Please pray that Faith handles the double dose of chemo today & she does not get sick like she was 3 weeks ago. They are staying the weekend just to make sure. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
  3. PRAISE THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY!!!! CANCER AND THE LESIONS ARE GONE!!!! we still have to continue with chemo to kill it dead but all I can say FAITH DEFIES THE ODDS AND PROVES THERE IS POWER IN PRAYERS! THANKS BE TO GOD!!!!!!!
  4. Well folks we did well through our first night home. She had an average of 98% oxygen level. No problems Ate good before bed, .....no bottles though....so we are putting water in her food for now till we figure out how to get her drinking. She woke up happy and smiling and kicking her legs in bed. Today the home nurse is coming to watch us give her first dose of medicine at home. She is in an antibiotic that’s given through her port. She’ll be on this until the 19th. This Friday she is to still do her MRI to check on the size of the tumor and receive her one chemo. It’s the easy chemo not the double dose. We will be discussing a plan of action with Dr. Meade to possibly help prevent this from happening again. She may need iv fluids for a couple days after receiving her chemo treatments. If Dr. Meade doesn’t think that she needs to get fluids after her chemo treatments then We are also considering staying down there in a hotel for a couple days after she gets the double chemo treatments so we can take her over to the ED for fluids if she gets lethargic and doesn’t want to eat or drink. We are hoping this doesn’t happen again but we are also trying to prepare a plan if it does as well as preparing a plan to help prevent this from happening again.
  5. The granddogger sure was....she sure missed her family!! Midgy was so happy when I took her home, she started to whine as soon as it was time to turn onto Hemlock Ave in Force. When I turned onto Spruce St, half her body was doing a happy dance. Then she saw her mommy & daddy & ran straight to daddy, 😆 When I left, I asked Midgy if she wanted to come home with Grandma. She just stared at me & started shaking!! We all had to tell her I was kidding & she was staying home with mommy, daddy, & Faith!! Dogs are to smart for their own good sometimes!!
  6. Faith had a good night, another fever free day. She Slept good, eating again, She ate pears for breakfast, yogurt for lunch and bananas for supper, almost ready for home ❤️ Maybe tomorrow!!
  7. Faith had an okay night, needed tylenol cause she was achy around 1am. Then she finally went to sleep. Looks like Saturday is the earliest we are coming home, but she needs to start eating for that to happen
  8. Updated!! We finally got some answers as to why Faith is so sick....she has a bad urinary tract infection. Any of you who have had a uti know how sick it can make you. Normally baby girls do get urinary tract infections simply because they poo in their diaper and some of the poo does get into the vagina. And the poo can get into there quickly and cause issues quickly. Normally though they can fight them off without a problem. But since Faith is on chemo she wasn’t able to fight it off and the infection was able to spread quickly. They are changing her antibiotics to better wage war on the UTI (urinary tract infection) . She will be here for several days, She needs to be back to her self in order to come home. She needs to be able to eat and drink and keep it down. She needs to be clear of the infection and fever free. Not a viral infection It is a bacterial infection The dactinomycin is the chemo drug she gets every third week and that’s what weakened her immune system
  9. Faith Marie update for 10/7/2020 So here’s the update on faith did have some fevers monday night and last night. when we were at Dubois Hospital she was about 100 Fahrenheit and then went back down and then when she got here she had a fever last night around 5 o’clock of 102 Fahrenheit they are giving her fluid and they are giving her anti-biotics. They feel that with the chemo treatment that she was on affected her immuno system and she did pick up a virus somehow that causes her to not want to eat which caused the dehydration. Her heart rate had also spiked with the fevers. When she had the temp of 102, her heart rate was in the 160s The fever had finally went down and her rate returned to normal in the night. She’s still not sweating, She’s still not eating. She is getting two different antibiotics to help her fight whatever it is she got She is still receiving iv fluids. She did perk up there a little bit last night before bed but this morning she’s very tired Overall she did well through the night and we seem to be getting on the right track to getting her better it’s just taking more time than before. This virus has not affected her lungs in anyway, mostly just digestion. The nurse did tell us that this is typical of a child on chemo And it’s probably going to happen again......yay
  10. Our Faith needs our prayers & positive thoughts because, she’s your Faith also!! Faith Marie took an ambulance ride last night to DuBois Penn Highlands ER. She received 2 kinds of chemo last Friday, Oct 2, 2020 at CHP. She slept most of the day Saturday, but ate some pears & drank a bottle. That’s all they could get her to take. Monday night she started throwing up fluids that were brown in color at 7:15. DuBois gave her fluids & took some labs, while waiting for a transport to CHP. Even with fluids, Faith was still throwing up, but now it was a green/yellow bile, a move in the right direction! The 2 chemos made her so sick that it dried her digestive system out. Since her stomach had so little digestive juices in it, that’s why she wasn’t able to tolerate fluids or food. So she ended up getting dehydrated. They finally got transported to CHP this morning around 9. Children’s is keeping her for a couple of days. They are pumping her with fluids & antibiotics. They also want to get food into her before releasing her. 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
  11. Faith received two different kinds of chemo yesterday. This happens every third treatment. When she has these two chemos together it really knocks the snuff out of her (VinCristine and Dactinomycin). She slept last night and most of today only to wake up enough to eat a bottle or some puréed pears ( her fav food when she’s not feeling well) then back to sleep again. She’s finally perking up now and wanted to sing to you all! ❤️🥰😞 (Sorry I can’t post her video)
  12. She didn’t have any nausea last week, which is good, but she has gone back to being constipated. They said that could happen. Week#3

  14. This is from yesterday.... She doing great! Healing well from surgery! Doing fantastic with the chemo. The Dr said that basically the side effects we've experienced this past week (slight nausea over the weekend) is it. She should not be all that unwell with this chemo!
  15. You can get ahold of me also if you want to make a donation to the family. I’m Faith Marie’s grandmother!! ❤️
  16. Help support the Spicher Family. Signs are $20.00 each. All proceeds go to the Family to help cost of going to Pittsburgh. Faith Marie was born with Trisomy 18, Edward’s Syndrome. At 19 months she was diagnosed with Wilm’s Tumor or Kidney cancer. She has to go every week to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh to have chemo. Thank you & God Bless!! Please call Deb Kalgren Kramer @ 771-8459
  17. They finally got home at 1:30 this morning!!
  18. Ok folks here is another update, No cancer in the lungs!!!! She was having some issues keeping her oxygen up but nothing serious, just the anesthia still hanging out in her system. She's eating well. She's going to be receiving chemo today. And we should be heading home tonight. Her discharge was up in the air there for a while but now they've decided her going home should be okay
  19. From Brandi: She’s doing okay so far. Needed oxygen through the night because her oxygen levels kept dipping into the 80s. We think her oxygen was dipping due to, obviously pain but also because she didn’t eat much yesterday so low sugar too. She’s doing better this morning with oxygen staying in the 90s. She is getting Tylenol every 6 hrs and we are feeding her a little bit at a time because her tummy is a little upset, understandably so. She had the CT scan of her lungs last night and we will get results today but that’s looking promising.
  20. Dr. Meade feels that Faith will only need 18 weeks of chemo! She also said that it is extremely rare that the chemo will shrink the tumor to the point that surgery will not be needed........ But we know Faith, and we know how she defies the odds and Proves there is Power in Prayer! Our Faith can move mountains! So prayer warriors, pray! Pray that God uses his power through her chemo to smite this tumor! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
  21. Faith did not have the eye surgery today. The chemo can mess with her eyes & make her go cross eyed, so that has been put on hold for now. Faith came out of surgery about 2 hours ago. Everything went good, no problems at all. They got the port put in, & tomorrow morning Faith Marie will receive her 1st chemo treatment. She already drank a bottle of formula, the dr’s were very happy with that!!
  22. Ok, so Brandi & Deryk had a zoom meeting with Faith’s kidney dr this afternoon. He said the tumor is 3/4”, that is small. Usually they aren’t found till they are a lot bigger & can be felt under the skin. There will be no biopsy next Wednesday while Faith is getting her eyes fixed. He knows it’s Wilms Tumor aka kidney cancer, so no need to do that. They will put her port in as they told them before. Chemo will start Thursday for 6 weeks. They will do a scan & tests to see how the tumor & his buddies are doing. If it’s shrinking, they will do 6 more weeks. They will run tests again. If the tumor & his gang are gone, yea! If the tumor is still there, he will take only what he absolutely must take of the kidney. Wed: eyes fixed & port put in. Thur: Chemo starts.
  23. So I just got a phone call from Brandi. She is upset because they got further bad news to add on top of the pile of bad news. Faith’s left ear canals are completely blocked off meaning she is deaf in that ear. I told her remember Joe was completely deaf in that ear also & he made it through life just fine. She said that’s what I kept thinking about, was Joe! I told her being deaf in one ear is small in comparison to the other issues Faith is taking on starting next Thursday (chemo). 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻💙💛💙💛🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
  24. So another update in Faiths Journey...... It's not the best news, but at least it's not the worst. There are lesions (nephroblastomas)on both kidneys. Her left kidney is enlarged and has a sphere shaped tumor which is most likely wilms tumor (kidney cancer). But until the biopsy is done...it is not cancer yet. Because lesions are on both kidneys, Faith is getting chemo and pronto. The lighter areas on the right kidney shows the nephroblastomas. Like I said before, her oncologist isn’t wasting time, she’s waging war. So here’s the plan simply put, Faith will have a biopsy Faith will be getting a port. Faith will be having eye surgery. Faith will be starting Chemo promptly. We do have one more test to do and I need my prayer warriors to work hard on this....please please please pray it hasn’t gotten to her lungs yet and we caught it in time 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 But with that being said even if it did, the chemo should be able to treat it. We’ve got a long, hard journey ahead of us but there is HOPE. And we know from knowing Faith, that she defies the odds and Proves that there is Power in Prayer!
