  1. I shoveled out the iris's but saw no sign of any creatures in or around the area. I am just wondering if its not more rot from too much water. I had felt pads down because of the lava rock. I took it all out and am hoping that's all it was. I took the bulbs out and checked thru them, am letting them dry and will work more on them tomorrow. I also found aphids on my butterfly bush, so we cut it all down and sprayed all around what was left and the ground around it...I'm so upset! I have never had that much problem with flower beds and such. I started clearing out all of the junk out of my other flower beds. Not sure if I'm uprooting flowers or not since I can't remember what all is planted there... :(

  2. If it is the nasty little bug, how do I get rid of them? They are near my other iris'. I will look closer tomorrow. Didn't think of nasty little bugs as I have never had that problem. There is felt paper and lava rock around them.

  3. My hostas are barely out of the ground. I'd try singing to them but they would probably cover their little ears and dive back underground. I divided the Sum and Substance when we had the warm weather. It's a beautiful hosta but sun burns easily. (first pic) Looking forward to the full growth of  Empress Wu which is supposed to be the biggest hosta of them all. Got it from the Middle School plant sale. Try it! They have really nice healthy plants. I get most of the plants for the pots on old Pershing parking lot on Brady Street there. Fill in from Ted Lyons supply.

Wow! That is one huge hosta!! I would be afraid of what could be hiding under it! I have big ones next to my porch, but nothing like that!

  4. now I know what it is, just didn't know the name. See, you teach me something all the time!!

I have this! I love it!! I thought it was another primrose, tells ya how much I know!! I will have to cover a couple plants that are flowering.   I think the frost got to my hostas....:(

  5. Try to aim for species tulips which are stronger and live longer.  For hybrids, dig deeper, feed well and expect that they may fail after 2-3 years, but not always with careful nurturing.

In about a month anyone will be welcome to come and take a huge shovel full of daffodils from my fence line.  Just contact me first.

Awesome Petee! I will try and remember this!! I want more spring flowers!   Thanks!!

  6. I do know of a couple places that daffodils grow wild! Will have to carry my small shovel with me and get a few to plant in my flower beds.. Would love to have some tulips too!!  ;)

If anyone has any bulb flowers that they would like to share, I'll be there!!! I used to have many many bulb flowers, but over time have lost them....  :(  I ordered some from a fundraiser 2 yrs ago and they came up nice this year....

  7. I am looking for some spring flower bulbs...daffodils, crocus', and others. Where is the best place to find some? I looked into the bulb magazines but the shipping is out of this world... but had lots of pretty ones!! :)

  8. I lost my 2nd boxer, Miss Dyna, last July 20th...been almost a year...she past away from colon cancer at the age of 11 1/2... She was my girl, altho in the beginning she was poppa's girl.. We had Stogie when we 1st got Dyna. We drove to Columbus Ohio to get her. She was a dark brindle, therefore people were a little afraid of her, hate to admit, in the beginning I was too... She was not a people person until she was about 4 years old...the change came with her 1st litter of puppies...then she became my pup.. She was the one that found my breast cancer before the doctors did..and also my kidney problem....

We found out 2 weeks before her death that she had colon cancer... She told us when it was time to cross the bridge... :(  She is still with us today...beside Stogie where she would want to be...IMG_0035.JPGIMG_0048.JPG
