The kids have planted sunflowers over the years and they never grew. But just let a squirrel bring one seed up into our mulch by our bushes and a few years ago we had a giant sunflower where we didn't want it....lol!

I've had a rash on my lower shin off and on all winter where the top of my sock band is tight. Once I started using this...gone!
I even used sensitive skin Arm & Hammer and then I used less and less of it.
With the home made stuff I've used the full cup and I realize now how stained my uniform shirt was. It's SO clean now.

I can't remember what the cost was at Martins but other people across the country must be buying the ingredients together...

I finally got my five gallon bucket. At the paint department at Lowes a nice white one with a good handle is on sale for $2.78!
Back the isle a little ways you can get a matching lid for a dollar something.
Hubby is grating the Fells Naptha as I type....lol!

Makes me wonder now why we were talking about hot chocolate on August 4th...lol!
A friend's mom always made this when we had a sled riding party and we loved it.

Well, when I was a kid my bus number was ... 2.
LOL!

Did you make the liquid one?
That's probably the one that I would use.

Have you SEEN the price of laundry detergent lately? Good grief! I'm going to try this because even the sensitive skin A & H is giving me rashes and rough spots.

This is the back of that photo
LOL! Hubby's not as smart as he thinks...we were both wrong...ha!

My hubby says I'm wrong and that they are ducks. He said the necks are too short to be phesants.

It's about 80 trout I'd say. Makes you wonder why our founding fathers thought there was a limitless supply of game.

Oh my word! That last photo is amazing. I had no idea it had a garden like that. I remember the day they tore it down and my mom being distressed about it.

I liked it better bigger....you could see all those white bottles on the counter. That's a cool photo. Wonder what building it was in.
*and why is the guy in the second chair in for a hairCUT? lol!

We walked the walkway yesterday and hubby said the DuBois Park used to be in the field behind Martins. He said there was a gazebo and everything. Are there any photos of that?

Does it look bigger just because there were no houses? It looks very large.

And our life expectancy is 20 years longer...lol!

Kitty: I am a freak about the smell of my clothes. I LOVE the smell of fabric softeners and detergents. Do you know of a way to add different scents to the home brew? I've been looking for ways to make "green" changes, and the home brew sounds like a good idea to me...especially since it saves money! I don't know if I could do without the smelly stuff though. My sense of smell is definitely my most keen. I can often smell things that others can't.
P.S. Thanks for sharing your secret recipe! :ty:
I'm the same way. I can tell you which of my co-workers use Tide on their clothes without even asking. (Val)
I love the scent of Surf laundry detergent and Arm & Hammer has two really good ones but they make the kids itchy. They are great for scrubbing the kitchen floor.
I rip all my dryer sheets in half. You don't need that much.
I hate the 2X laundry detergent too! Did you notice that it says there is a line on the cap for half a load but as hard as I looked, I couldn't see the line. How much extra money are they making just because you forget and fill the cap? A lot. I went to Martins to get the Arm & Hammer sensitive skin and ALL the big bottle have been replaced. I need to run to the Dollar Store or somewhere like that to stock up.

That would work for me. lol!
Laundry Soap.........

Got this from a friend...
Thought of you the other day. Went to a County class on how to certify your own septic system. Instructor talked about people making their own detergents.
Best Wishes,
MT
And I asked him what they said about the home made detergents....
Actually they said low foam soaps were good. The guy also favored liquid over dry.
