  1. Alll she is saying is to fill a milk jug with watrer and poke a small hole in the bottom side of it for the water to gradually drain to water the plants.     Others are saying to use powdered milk in the water to get more calcium to them.   mIne seem to have cleared up ( or at least no more)  since we have gotten some rain.

    thank you.   :)

  2. Use the milk jug treatment to water your plants in this kind of weather.  Set one beside each plant as closely as you can.  Poke a small hole, about the size of a pencil lead or smaller in the bottom corner closest to the plant.  Filll the jug once a day and you should immediately see a difference.

We saved our cherry tree across from Shankel's Pharmacy that way but we used four gallon jugs for about a week.

Can you explain this Milk Jug treatment to me.  My tomatoes are rotten on the bottom.  What all goes in the jug?

  3. I have used Dawn for dog shampoo for a long time now, it kills fleas and leaves your dog smelling the the way a dog hates, clean!!! Just be sure to rinse completely as it can irritate their skin.

I use Dawn also my groomer told me to use it.  works wonderful.:c49:

  4. Calvary cemetary in Punxsy is reputed to be haunted. The Gatti family once owned a factory there and had a son who died in the Flu epidemic of 1918 at age 19. The father had his son's bust placed on the grave marker. Then in 1936 his daughter died at age 30. The grieving father had a life size statute made of her laying in a bed placed on her grave. According to legend after his daughters death he would visit the grave every night and kneel there weeping until his servant would guide him back to the car and take him home. This continued for several years until the father went out on a cold snowy night stayed at the grave brushing the falling snow from his daughter. When the servant finally got him to leave the chill had effected him and he became very ill that night and soon died. It is said that on cold clear nights if you stand by the grave you can hear the father weeping for his children. I have attached pictures of the site.

I was told the father had his daughter's body shipped to Italy where they covered her in cement to make what you see in the pic.  You can see it from the road.

From what I have been reading on the Penn State websites if they haven't turned bad or have spots they are safe to eat. They are safe to can if no lesions are present. The fungus can not harm you. Secondary infections that may have entered through the breaks in the skin could be harmful if they do start to turn bad. Don't can anything that has visible lesions in the event that the pH is off or more harmful organisms are present. I'm still waiting for information on if they would be safe to can if done in vinegar or something as a relish.

Thanks I should have some to eat in a day or two.  mmmmmm:dance:

  6. I found this recipe for fabric softner in the paper.  I made it and it works great too.......

    6 cups water

    3 cups vinegar

2 cups cheap hair conditioner (whatever scent you like)

Mix and store in a 1 gallon container.

I just used my old store bought fabric softner container.

Just give it a little shake before use, to make sure t it has not seperated.

How much do you use per load?  One cup?

  7. Kittymommy - I am sorry this is posted so late.. but I have tons of recipes for bath and body products.  I can share them with you - I make body melts, whipped body butter, foot scrub, body scrub etc.. just let me know.

That's sounds wonderful to me,  the foot scrub would be good for the winter months. :)

    I think that's a great idea.  I know I'd like that!

I made the laundry detergent yesterday, and I have to admit that getting the Fels Naptha ground to a fine consistency was not as easy as I though it would be.  The food processor got it to the size of 3/8 inch pebbles, but it was soft and mushy at that point and kept sticking to processor sides and blades.

I finally put the pebbles in the refrigerator in a sealed container, then this morning ran it through an old coffee grinder.  That worked great, but took quite a while since it was a lot smaller machine. Can't wait to try it out now, to see how it works and also to see if it bothers my sensitive skin...

the liquid is easy to make.

  9.

2 tbsp. total.  Every dishwasher I have owned only has one compartment - didn't know there was more than one :)

Mine washes the dishes twice so 1compartment for each wash.  I thought they were all like that.  So 1 Tbsp. each is what I'll try.  I'll let ya know.

  10. has anyone had an allergic reaction to any of their home-made laundry soap?  I am allergic to alot of soap powders and wonder if this is better.  I know I can't use ivory because, yes, I am allergic to it.

I have to watch what I use but I've had no trouble so far.  I've used it several days now.
