Looks like a female Eastern Towhee. The male sings a song that sounds like "drink your tea".

It's Purple Spiderwort.

There are quite a few in the woods along the Clarion River - from Portland Mills to Irwin Run.

It's a Starflower - in the Primrose family.

I'm so sorry for your loss. The tears will come for a long time - it really is like losing a family member. Hold on to those great memories.

Rabbits love holly - I know it well from experience. I had 4 holly bushes that did not come back.

I wish I knew about birds. There is a bird in my yard that sounds like a phone ringing. I keep running in to answer it.
You may be hearing a Veery or another bird in the Thrush family. If it sounds like it has a

I tried a tropical variety a few years ago and it was beautiful. Right now I have a White Butterfly Weed blooming - it's in it's second year. It's not as striking as the orange variety and it doesn't seem to attract butterflies like the orange does.

Beautiful!
Hubby says that now that I'm getting into perrenials, I want everything that I see...
he may be right!
When I first started gardening and planting perrenials, my Grandmother told me:
The first year they sleep;
The second year they creep; and
The third year they leap.
I love it when they "leap"!

Robins are probably at your feeders to eat the insects around the fallen seed. You can feed them soaked raisins if you want to give them a treat. Just soak them in a bowl of water over night, drain them and then set them out. Catbirds, Orioles and Blue Jays will eat them too.

I like the smell of it. I have four different colors. You can use the dried leaves to make tea - oswego tea. It can be used in cooking - it kinda tastes like oregano. Hummingbird moths and Bumble Bee moths love it.

Monarda also known as Bee Balm

Yep. Forget who I am? We have the Eagle guy in common

I love your greenhouse! I'm going to bring my Mom out sometime to see it too - she's thinking of getting one.
