  1. She has been more of a mother to me than my bio mother ever was or is capable of. We don't always see eye to eye but when it comes down to it, she's my Mom and she is in emotional pain. The 1st one was a sudden aggressive progression, she rescued him ( as all of pack are rescues) and he was a certified therapy dog ( he had an amazing inspirational life that many could relate or found comfort being with him). Dutch, well he clung to mom n I, smart dog but has recently suffered from what the vets think multiple strokes. He is so sad and she is going to help him pass peacefully meeting the vet in a field (hunting dog so will be surreal) to hold him as he falls asleep. She does have one that just turned 15 yrs old recently, the sister of one I lost 2 years ago at easter. Only animal people truly understand this pain we feel, but we know he has no quality of life so how fair is that? Btw she treats her pack better than many treat their children. Good night, long day a head
  2. Tomorrow is my mother in law's birthday, which should be a day of fun, right? Well instead, she has to have her beloved four legged son put to sleep. This will the 2nd dog she will have lost in 3 months ( 1st had advanced form of bone cancer) and I know she would appreciate any comforting thoughts or prayers you could send her way. I have found the community of individuals here are very compassionate individuals and most of you understand the pain our family is going through. At Thanksgiving, my ferret passed due to advanced adrenal disease, 12/13 my "brother" or mom's other baby passed and tomorrow I will stay with her remaining "children" while she holds his paw as he passes. Thank you.
  3. Baby the big boy, I know you do already and Bon is right, u will know when the time comes. So sorry, vent if u need to. From 1 furry mommy to another, deepest condolences.
  4. Okay I know you're busy and things are probably hectic, but when you get a chance, how is Chewy? How are you?
  5. Please keep us up to date! Best of luck Chewy, hoping for pawsitive news! Hugs to Mommy and Family.....I have been there in those shoes before, I can relate to knowing how the "not knowing" feeling is.
  6. oh and if it's a pitbull, there are special programs out there that assist in spaying/neutering pits, forgot that.
  7. There is a low cost spay/neuter clinic that I can't recall the name of but there's usually a waiting list. I will ask my mom when I go over later, both of us rescue dogs (and now I have a Kat that needs neutered anyway, so I'm looking for that info again) and all are spayed/neutered. My dog Sally just had an infected tooth pulled Friday (doing VERY good especially for her age of almost 11 now, eating some regular dog food today mixed with soft still) and that was expensive!!! But then again prior to knowing her tooth was bad, she kept diving into the carpet/ground to rub her face, which scratched her cornea twice, weekly vet visits for 2 1/2 months!!! so the tooth pretty much equaled all the visits and medications for her eye. Oh yeah for anyone that doesn't know about it, the Care Credit Card is accepted by most vets for payment (I know Elk county clinic and Brockway take it) and then you just make payments, easier than coming up with $400 on the spot. Neutering and spaying costs depend on weight of animal as well, for surgery, so I hope he's a small dog or still young!
  8. lumps are scary and most time benign (fatty tissue especially in lab mixes). My old girl had 4 removed last year only because they interfered with her walking due to location (under her front shoulder) and she continues to grow them and the vet continues to biopsy the new ones that appear just to make sure. She has also grown skin tag like things, we call them her beauty marks because she has one on her nose.
  9. Sending positive vibes Chewy's way, I hope all turns out okay. Keep us updated
  10. and never ask to borrow money or the car or complain about the same food for dinner every night, etc.lol
  11. My dog is overweight and the only vet that has ever said anything about her weight was Dr. Lee, I know she is and was open to suggestions on how to help an old dog lose weight, but most aren't open to hearing it. Had to change vets due to my 2yr old being terrified of Dr. Lee's office after he got nuetered and he weighs in over 100lbs BUT is not overweight, because I asked the new vet about it. Because of his breeds he is mixed with and his height, he is perfect with very good muscle tone.
  12. Please keep us up to date, will keep you and yours in my thoughts.
  13. most vets that I know don't give boosters or any shots in the leg, especially on a joint like that. Did he slip on ice anywhere? Did he get a lyme's booster? Some animals will contract lymes from the shot. But he definately needs to see a vet as my mom's greyhound just recently passed from an aggressive form of bone cancer, dad had to carry him up and down steps for a week before the dr finally put him down. If he has arthritis already, could be a possibility. You said its hard, does it move at all? Does he cry when you try? Keep calling the vet, call the emergency # if needed, he's limping and already on pain meds sooooooo he needs seen. Good Luck and I hope I'm wrong.
