  1. All 3 of my dogs get the immunization for Lyme's because ALWAYS in the woods and Minnie has SEVERE reactions to any topic chemical based flea/tick repellent (I use all natural collars on all 3 for almost 2 years now and only 1 tick got by!). Unfortunately, the vet told us the other day that Lyme's is the least of your worries now a days with tick born illnesses, there are more severe viruses they carry that cannot be treated or prevented in any way. Just a word to the wise for all pet owners, the next vet visit, have the heart worm/tick borne pathogens panel ran, it's a sensitive enough test to detect the other types of viruses ticks carry. And for those who don;t believe heart worm is in the area, not true as many people are moving north (especially since Katrina and all those displaced animals) and bringing their pets who are not treated. I really don't like to allow my dogs to play with other dogs that I don't know how well they are cared for, especially after it cost me over $150 to treat all 3 for hookworm that Minnie got from playing with the puppy that used to live next door that they never took care of or vetted.

    ugly weiner!

interesting....and what do they call this cross breed? a bullweenie?
  3. my Minnie had a horrible reaction to Revolution, be careful with that stuff. She now can't tolerate any topical or collars that are not all natural. The shelter put Revolution on her before we took her home and within an hour she was vomiting profusely, ended up having to bathe her in Dawn (recommended by vet) to get that Revolution drops off her. Called the shelter and was told 8 pups that were treated (including the other 3 from her litter) had bad reactions, not sure if it was the lot or just some are more sensitive than others. Good luck!
  4. some did, you could see where some of the berries had fallen/been eaten off.....I think I'm going to make time in the next few weeks to take a plant to PSU and have it checked, not like if it is, the price is going down....it goes up as the season ends Thanks everyone!
  5. plants looked nothing like what is on this website, but thanks
  6. the ones i took were from my own private land, we own 20+ acres of wooded land but thanks!
  7. I don't have a pic of the plant but this one I found online looks EXACTLY like it as the leaves were yellow already....the guy in the pic is stating it's ginseng though, and I did some more research and found that other plant sarsaparilla root does not grow here, I think the guy who told me what I have is bs.......can I pm you a picture or 3 of what I have?
  8. what the root of wild ginseng looks like? I've been hunting it and found some that I THINK is the root but some guy told me today (though pictures sent to him) that he believes it to be sarsaparilla root, to which I found out doesn't really grow here (?) PM me and I will send you a pic of the root I have only if you know what it looks like. I know someone here has to be a 'senger and would know if I'm on the right path. Thanks!
  9. Weighing in at 44.5 lbs.....Minnie Pearl! she is growing so fast, mischievous as can be, back yard has so many holes filled with gravel, starting to look like a penn dot highway! along with the dismembered bodies of what was once were stuffed toys everywhere, she is a lot of fun, little skittish yet, vet says to socialize her more with adults as she is with young kids and dogs all the time and then just me and hubby....sooooo grandma is "grand dog sitting" next weekend for us to go hunting, I've got the "mommy anxiety" due to this being her first time away from me ever overnight but I know she will be in good hands and come back even more spoiled.
  10. not even close, my Sly was blonde and omg he was a smart dog! (hence the name sly!) he makes my current dogs look intellectually challenged in comparison!
  11. you didn't trip....the floor just needed a hug! (and your dog just wanted to say hi! *slurp*)
  12. i hear ya! I have 2 black dogs, one big that loves to stretch out and one who thinks she is big and likes to sprawl out everywhere....and then a dark brown lazy old girl who won't move for nuttin!
  13. too early for Halloween dontcha think? lol
  14. wow super-tongue! bet she can get your whole face with one lick! lol
  15. beautiful bon, i really need to get out there soon, it's so calming out there but the radiator blew on the van and I know hubby would want to take at least Minnie and Ben and I'm not so keen on having them in my car after running around out there as they both love water. When i go fishing or swimming, we have a rule: you leave nothing behind but gentle footprints.
  16. here's Miss Radar Ears lol
  17. on the back of the couch and have room to spare! Weigning in at 26.4 lbs, Miss Minnie Pearl, aka Tonka Truck (when she comes running she reminds me of a Tonka and she has a big dog run), aka Radar Ears, because her ears are so expressive, sometimes when she is listening to you talk to her, her ears go up like little radar satallites lol. She should be close to 5 months now
  18. aren't* darn I need to proof read before hitting post lol
  19. I swear she is ALWAYS asking that, she doesn't bark either but she gives you a look like can I come or can I have some or wanna play? and she sort of "talks" through grunts and that, only barks at Ben when they are playing and he steals the toy. And Minnie is always ready for a close up, my daughter taught her to use her nose to push the button and take "selfies" or play my daughter saying her name over and over and over and over again. but not all is fun and games.....she's little miss attitude, thinks she's bigger than she is, if you scold her or deny her what she wants, she will pee on the floor, she has chewed through the internet cable twice now, and loves to chew on shoes (not mine cuz I actually put mine away, haha). she chewed my son's little girlfriend's flip flops up in like the 2 minutes they went up to the game room and came back down. but she's still a baby and man is she teething! I am gonna get her a puppy rubber teething ring next time I'm at the store cuz the other bones and that are doing the trick. Thanks for all the comments, she is a ham no doubt!
  20. i love flowering dogwood trees! it's actually my favorite "flower" (roses have pricks, so that why guys give roses hehehe sorry had to jab at the guys and be a feminist pig lol)
  21. I remember my husband's whole family looking at me like a nut when I was picking beechnuts off the trees at camp and breaking them open to munch the seeds.(now they fight the squirrels and chipmunks to get to them first!) All the years they owned the property, they never knew the nuts were edible! And then introducing my son to tea berries out in the woods while hiking, he flipped because he was taught not to eat red berries without knowing what they were! I instructed him on how to identify them by smell and by sight of the plants. It just dawned on me so I had to share lol
  22. that's probably why it didn't take either time, 1st time was in June right before my son's birthday as the sandbox that was built was a gift and the other was late May, but again I think that didn't take because Ben dug it up and kept bringing it to me. I even put a fence around it but the bugger got to it and would bring me the root!
  23. oh yeah when I introduced my kids to it, they thought I was nuts too, then one day I caught my daughter trying to eat it without peeling it (ick!) so I had to teach her how. Now when we have it, it doesn't last but a day lol
