Bon
Photo From F4 Tornado In St. Marys From 1963 This article was posted on Facebook from Elk County, Journey Through Time. Forster Farm, near St. Marys, Pa, Septemvber 3, 1963, an F-4 tornado started along Grant Road outside of Ridgway near the Victor Moore farm. From there it cut across largely unpopulated forest until it reached the area near Route 255. Directly in its path was the farm of Herb and Marge Forster. Hank recalled the storm's fury in an interview I did with him and Marge during my time with the Daily Press:"I was standing in the corner of the barn when it hit. Just a huge roar, and it blew all the windows out. We had some lawn chairs in the back yard, the big, heavy, wooden type, and I saw them going by. Somebody said they found one at Erich's." (about two miles east)This photo shows the farm in the aftermath of the storm. From Forster's it cut across northern St. Marys, leaving a path of destruction but miraculously killing no one
