conservativeman633
Most area citizens do not know that DHS had a rifle team in the late Depression Era. It was a good team that rarely lost. It had an even greater challenge finding other high school teams than we do today, and they were willing to travel 2 or more hours to compete, although we had our own range. Most of the time the DHS team competed in prone position only, but the first time they went to standing position they still won. Does anyone recognize one of these 6 members of this early DHS squad?? -----Dave Beer ----Bob Milliron ----George Wilcox -----Bill Monroe ----Frank Bentley ----Al Roberts jeeper401

Retired in late '90s early '2000s. Or maybe his name was Al Robertson?, cant remember.. been way too many years.

This team began in 1937, and was undefeated (12-0) after the first two years. At the time this was thought to be the most successful sports team ever at DHS. DHS had no sports at all until about 1894.
