Sinnemahoning State Park Staff & Volunteers Save Young Elk Trapped On

On December 22, 2016 a young spike wondered down into the overflow spillway becoming trapped on the slippery ice at the base.

Early on Friday, December 23, after the elk failed to get out of the spillway on his own a rescue was put into effect. Pennsylvania Game Commission, park staff and volunteers came together to safely remove the young elk.

After being sedated the spike was pulled to safety on a sled where data was collected and a collar placed.
