  1. Anna H. Schaffner, age 89, of DuBois, died Wednesday, August 09, 2017 at Christ the King Manor.

    Born on February 1, 1928 in Smithtown, PA, she was the daughter of the late David and Florabelle (Hinderleiter) Hilliard.

    She was married to John P. Schaffner, who preceded her death on April 21, 2002.

    Anna retired in administration from the University of South Alabama.

    She was born and raised in Falls Creek, PA. She then spent over 50 years in Mobile, Alabama before returning to the DuBois area. She was a member of PEO, and was a volunteer at the Mobile Museum of Art.

    She is survived by one son; Samuel J. Schaffner and his wife Audrey of Ringwood, NJ and one grandson Leo L. Schaffner.

    She was preceded in death by one brother (James Hilliard) and one sister (Delores Shindledecker)

    Friends will be received on Saturday, August 12, 2017 from 11 AM until 12 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.

    Private funeral services will be held.

    Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.

    Memorials may be made to Christ the King Manor, 1100 West Long Avenue, DuBois, PA  15801.

  2. John A. "Jack" Delaney, Age 88 of Lincoln Drive, DuBois, PA died Wednesday, August 09, 2017 at Penn Highlands DuBois.

    Born on May 18, 1929 in Reynoldsville, PA, he was the son of the late Arthur J. & Blanche M. (Christy) Delaney.  

    Jack graduated in May of 1947 from St. Catherine School and attended Duquesne University and the Pennsylvania State University.  He was a veteran of the United States Army having served 17 months in Korea during the war. 

    After his service, he spent 2 years at the General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan, and in 1956, he joined the family Wholesale Gasoline & Oil Business, Delaney Brothers, for the next 35 years, retiring in 1991.

    On May 9, 1970, he married Joan (Kriner) Delaney. She survives.

    Jack was a member of the DuBois Jaycees and was one of several people behind the creation of the Jaycees pool, and was the President the year the pool opened.  He also served on the board of directors for the United Fund, the DuBois Chamber of Commerce, and Penn State DuBois.  He was a member of the James J. Patterson Post 813 Veterans of Foreign Wars, the George D. Montgomery American Legion Post 17, &. The Knights of Columbus.  He was also a member of St. Bernard Roman Catholic Church in Falls Creek.

    In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister (Nancy Higgs) and numerous nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his 3 brothers (Thomas, Michael, & Arthur Delaney)

    Visitation will be held on Friday, August 11, 2017 from 4-7 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.

    A scriptural wake service will be held Friday, August 11, 2017 at 4 PM at the funeral home.

    A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 10 AM from St. Bernard Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Edward Walk as celebrant.

    Full military honors will be accorded from the church by the members of the DuBois Arear Honor Guard.

    Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery

    Memorials may be placed to the charity of the donor's choice.

  3. Vivian "Jerri" Moline of Treasure Lake, DuBois, PA passed from life on August 5, 2017 at Christ the King Manor after several years of illness.

    Jerri was born in Clearfield County on September 25, 1935, the daughter of Mae Frances Robbins and was later adopted by William Isaac Shaffer. 

     She spent her entire life in the DuBois area, graduating from Sandy High School in 1954. On September 1, 1956, she married Robert "Bob" Moline at Bethany Covenant Church. He survives of Treasure Lake.  Bob and Jerri were long time members of the Lakeside United Methodist Church in DuBois. Together they had two daughters (Barbara Martini of Treasure Lake, PA and Patricia Butler and husband David Butler of Napa, CA) Her loving granddaughter (Bethanie Martini of Bellevue, KY). Her sister (Kathryn Radaker and her husband, Dave of Treasure Lake, PA). Jerri had four step-grandchildren, (Dr. Robert Martini; Shayne Martini; Aaron Butler and Adam Butler). She also had may nieces, nephews and three great grandchildren she remained close to.

    Jerri was preceded in death by her parents and step father, Forrest Shaffer; son-in-law, Robert Martini).

    After high school, Jerri's busy career began as a telephone operator at Bell Telephone, followed by retail experience at Penn Traffic and the DuBois Mall, most significantly with the House of Cards where she rose to the position of District Manager, responsible for 13 stores. After retirement, she became a "Pampered Chef Consultant" and was the receptionist at Murray Ford in DuBois, PA. She founded and was the President of the Treasure Lake Garden Club. Jerri served on the Board of Directors of the DuBois Concert Association as Publicity Chairwoman. She was also actively involved in Ladies of the Lake, Christian Women's and the Red Hat Ladies Society.

    Jerri was a fan of jazz and enjoyed visits with her husband Bob to live performances in NYC clubs and to the Manassas Jazz Festival for 9 years, the Jacksonville Florida Jazz Festival and many others. She was a talented and adventurous cook and had a "green thumb" her entire life.

    Jerri's family would like to thank the staff of Christ the King Manor Memory Support Unit, for their kindness and care shown to Jerri during her stay there.

    Visitation will be held at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Monday, August 7, 2017 from 4 to 8 PM, and Tuesday, August 8, 2017 from 10 AM until the time of service.

    A funeral service will be held on, Tuesday August 8, 2017 at 11 AM from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. with Pastor Bob Kirby officiating.

    Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery.

    Memorial contributions may be made to Christ the King Manor, 1100 West Long Avenue, DuBois, PA 15801 and The Robert P. Martini Scholarship Foundation, 673 Treasure Lake, DuBois, PA 15801.

  4. Patricia J. Schmuck, age 82, of West Long Avenue, DuBois, PA died Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Penn Highlands DuBois.

    Born April 16, 1935 at Jersey City, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Sarah (Erichson) Hutchinson.

    In 1970, she married Jesse T. Schmuck. He survives and lives in DuBois.

    She loved music. She, along with her husband, were well known as the “Country Couple” musical act; performing in the Williamsport, PA and Lake Whales, FL areas for many years.

    Survivors include two daughters (Patricia Plummer of DuBois, PA, and Kathleen Lee of Germany) one son (Horace Schmuck of Warrensville, PA) one brother (Richard Hutchinson of TX) nine grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by an infant son.

    There will be no public visitation.

    A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 11 AM at the Grace Reformed Presbyterian Church, Stone Side Village, DuBois, PA, Pastor Derek Miller officiating.

    Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

  5. Richard A. Stiles, age 75, of Melody Road, Grampian, PA died Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Penn Highlands DuBois.

    Born June 23, 1942 in Johnstown, PA he was the son of late Cecil and Lillian (Kunsman) Stiles.

    He was married to Jean (Swatsworth) Stiles. She preceded him in death on January 5, 2002.

    He along with his wife, was the owner/operator of Styles by Stiles Hair Salon in Curwensville for many years.

    Survivors include three children (Sherry Bachelier and husband Daniel of Grampian, PA; Leonard Stiles and wife Christina of Virginia Beach, VA; Richard Stiles and wife Celissa of Wilmington, NC) and four grandchildren (Courtney Winkleman; Devan and Jessica Stiles and Ti Stiles).  He is also survived by two sisters and four brothers.

    He was preceded in death by three brothers.

    There will be no public visitation.

    A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

    Burial will be in Bloomington Cemetery.

    Memorials may be made to the Gateway Humane Society, 1211 Airport Road, Falls Creek, PA  15840.
