Cant wait to see the iris 's now

My tulips bloomed!!! I guess they did pretty good on the front porch.

I have a black thumb when it comes to houseplants, but those I can get to grow.

I get mine to bloom 3-4 times a year. just let them die down, trim the leaves off leaving about 3 inches above bulb and don't water for about 2 weeks, then start watering again and they start to grow again.

I'm going to keep doing what I have done for years. I have told many people that you an get them to rebloom and they didn't know that. Most say they throw them out when they are done blooming. What a waste of a very nice flower!!!

ok, I have planted Amaryllis before and have had them bloom 4 times a year. I just read the box and it says that you should plant them every 2-3 years, so they can dry out between plantings. Why??? If I can get them to bloom swveral times, I don't see why they need that many years to buff up the bulbs. Does anyone else get theirs to bloom many times a year or am I the only one who does this? I don't dig mine up when they are done blooming. I let them rest in the pot, let it dry out for about 2 weeks, then start watering again. and it grows again.

wel I finally got my tulips & iris's planted on Sunday. They are on the front porch next to the house. If they come up, they come up, if they don't, they don't. My canna is still doing very well. It is also against the house.

I haven't seen 1 Japanese Beetle this year!!! Usually my rose bush is covered.

Had to take my bike to get a new front tire on it. It had just a little short of 26000 miles on it.

Saturday we stopped at a garden center that is between Tyrone and Waterstreet. That place is huge!! They had banana trees that were down to $13. Said you cut them down, mulch them over, and they would come back next year. If we weren't on the bikes, we would of bought one .... plus some rocks, stones, flowers, more rocks. We are going to go back with the truck one of these days.

I bought more tulips last week ... can't help it, they were calling my name. I am going to put them on the front porch and see how they do. the south side of the porch has windows in it. It is only open on the eastern and northern side. one of my canna's half bloomed today!!! when it opens the whole way I will take a pic of it. I am going to take that pot into the basement to over winter it.

what if I put the barrel on the front porch, will that be enough coverage that the bulbs won't rot or freeze?

I bought a bunch of iris' and tulips. If I plant them in my whiskey barrel (made of resin) will they survive the winter, or will they die?
