  1. yes they do Jay there are variations in color as well.  Also known as a peacock moth

    Description:
Io moth, also known as the Peacock moth, are one of the smaller North American silk moths with a wingspan of 2-3 inches. The female is noticeably larger than the male and its forewing is a purple-brown color. The male forewings are mostly yellow. Both sexes have a beautifully colored underwing marked by a black dot. The larva is green with maroon stripes edged with white along each side of the body and is covered with stiff spikes that are quite irritating to the skin when touched, and very painful if they penetrate your skin. ( probably what your husband experienced wildflowerpa)They can grow to be about 2 inches long.

    Damage:
Larvae feed on leaves of many shrubs and bushes, such as hollies. Larvae should not be handled with bare hands!

    Life cycle:
Larvae feed on cherry, willow, elm, boxelder, aspen, maple. The winter is spent in a cocoon. Adults emerge in late spring or early summer and oviposit eggs on host plant leaves. Larvae develop through several instars over a period of several weeks before they pupate.

  2. You can mail a plant directly to the lab also but you have to print the form from the internet.  Plants must be packed specifically for mailing so let me know first and I can give you the directions.  If anyone needs to do that I'll send you the link for the form.  If you drop it off at any Cooperative Extension they will mail it for you for free.  Otherwise you just pay the postage and mailing supplies.

That's what I did. I took mine to Brookville Cooperative Extension on Main Street.

  3. I had my soil tested last year and took in a peeper plant to have tested. My soil was good and the plant had broad mites which killed off all my peppers last year. I must have got rid of that problem this year and my soil is good. WMJ77 I had mine done in Brookville they sent it to Penn State. It was $9 for the test kit. it had all the instructions and you just put the soil in the package and mail it off to them. They will send you the results. The pepper plant I took over to Brookville and she mailed for me. I do not believe that cost anything.

  4. I plant them and let them grow and that's it. I till the garden up which is only an hour or so. This year I used a weed barrier. I usually just put newspapers down and then mushroom compost on top. This year it was weed barrier and mushroom compost. The hardest part was cutting all the holes for the plants. With newspaper you just push the bulb planter tool through it with the cloth I had to cut the hole first. Next year wont be so bad as all I have to do is use the bulb tool. I guess it does take a bit of time to plant everything but once they are all planted. I just leave them go. My wife will spray an environmental soap on some of the plants like the cauliflower but other than that. I just leave it go. The best part is I do not have to weed. The extra work when planting is well worth it.

The only problem with chipmunks I have had lavender is they ate all my strawberries the little buggers.  The garden has come a long way considering it looked like this when I first started.  It's not very big either. I believe 18 foot wide and 40 feet long.

  5. My garden is doing very well this year as far as plants growing and not dying off. I haven't lost a single plant this year which is very unusual. My tomato plants are growing great the only problem is they hardly have any tomato's on them. I have some plants that are taller than me growing and they seem to be cherry tomato's. Problem is I did not buy any cherry tomato's. I believe the place I bought them from mislabeled them.

Now my pepper plants are doing excellent. I have lots of peppers already but no darn tomato's to make sauce. Looks like we might have to buy tomato's again this year. I posted a few pics of them. I seem to like the camera I bought my wife and am constantly using it. I may have to buy me one so she can use hers.

  6. Sorry for your loss candlemissy. A lot of people do not understand the attachment we get to our animals. They are part of the family each with their own personality. Did you happen to be at Brookville Vet Hospital today?

  7. I posted some pics on the storm a few minutes ago and found these pics on the disk. I had taken them a week before in the garden. seems butterflies like mushroom compost. I had around 15 in the garden all together when I walked up they scattered and then settled down into groups of 2 to 4. wish I could have gotten a pic of them all together.

  8. I am betting the same guy who called 911 emailed or had someone email Big foot society.

    The email reads;

'Today in Somerset county PA a turkey hunter shot and killed an animal he claimed is a Sasquatch. The state police were called and responded to the scene, according to chatter on the local police frequencies the officers confirmed there was an unidentified animal shot and killed. Details are a bit fuzzy at this time.'

A bit fuzzy. Now there is a laugh. Seems whenever there is anything about Bigfoot everything is a bit fuzzy such as pictures, video cameras. I have bought disposable cameras that take better pictures than I have seen. There was a time when I thought there might actually be a Bigfoot etc. As the years go by and the hoax people keep showing up and producing and claiming lies my beliefs have changed. Especially after watching Bobo on tv. He should be on the comedy channel LOL

there it is...her report...(in HER journal)  ready to read.  One slight catch...ya gotta pay to view it.  Ah...never mind.  lol

I thought money might be involved.

Although I went to the site and there is a line through you must have to register to the site first.

    Ketchum, M. S., Wojtkiewicz, P. W., Watts, A. B., Spence, D. W., Holzenburg, A. K., Toler, D. G.,

Sorry Dodgeman with some of her associates I am putting this lady  right next to  Rick Dyer hopefully her work is sound but time will tell. Let's say her work is accurate and Dyer account is true also that he shot one. Being that the creature is part human according to Ketchum should he be tried for murder then? Just a thought.

  10. Back around June last year her paper was rejected. Not sure if the one she has now is a different one on reworked science.  Another thing is she has been promising this research for 5 years now. Back in November last year they released this same info about DNA evidence. We will see if she releases anything this time and I wonder if this article went through peer review like the last one did but since you said self-published I am guessing it is her old paper that was rejected. It could be she running out of money and she hopes this will bring in new revenue for her from some other sucker.

    **********************************************************************************************************************************

The Ketchum paper has been rejected by peer review journals in the U.S. Before we give you the details, here's a statement from Steven Streufert of Coalition for Reason, Science, Sanity in Bigfoot Research:

It is official, then: The Ketchum paper was REJECTED and FAILED PEER REVIEW.

No conspiracy theory can change what this means: their science is NOT sound. It failed.

    DNA Samples

For example, the samples which the test results were based on are being met with skepticism.

  11. My guess this is another hoax to promote the film. Musky has already been exposed in a lie concerning this alleged Bigfoot body.

Musky Allen stated he contacted Dr. Meldrum in an effort to get Meldrum to go to see the dead bigfoot but that Meldrum wanted a fee to go.

    Here is Meldrum's reply:

"I was just read a passage over the phone from a post by Mr. Allen claiming he made repeated attempts via email to invite me to go to Las Vegas, but that I requested my "usual appearance fee" of $5500. LOL.

This is a bald-faced lie. I checked to see if I might have missed ANY email correspondence from Mr. Allen and have nothing in my inboxes. Let Mr. Allen produce the emails from me. He can't. WHAT DOES THIS SAY ABOUT THE RELIABILITY OF THE REMAINDER OF HIS TESTIMONY?"

    End Statement

So can Musky produce the emails?

  12.

You better hope it doesn't come back alive and tear your car apart.  ;)

I may have to back up and see what I hit. Thump Thump :shok: DRneil I didn't say I was going to hit it on purpose I said I wouldn't swerve as I don't with any animal. I would try to avoid it if I could but would not risk hitting another vehicle or running off the road so I don't swerve to much just hit the brakes. I dont' expect it will be doing this though :nana: well a drunk in a suit might lol

dsmyhubby you would be surprised what I can do. You just need the right tools. I would expect a few passerbys would give me a hand if I needed it heck they may even throw it on their vehicle. I think I am pretty safe driving though. I figure they are smarter than deer when it comes to vehicles. Heck we haven't even gotten good photos and with todays technology to boot. They seem to be pretty crafty LOL

  13. Here is an article about the skull in question.

Archaeologists digging in a 1,000-year-old pre-Hispanic cemetery in Mexico's South Sonora have uncovered a series of skeletons featuring signs of cranial deformation. The practice, which is well documented among Mesoamerican peoples, has never been seen this far north before
