  1. Gator, thanks so much for the info. I just printed it off.
  2. Beautiful! If we didn't have an electric fence around our garden, there would be nothing at all left at this point.
  3. Thanks for all of the replies and the pictures. I will try the vinegar for sure. I'm at the point that I feel that some years I'm the bug and some years I'm the windshield when it comes to gardening. This may be a bug year.
  4. So how is everyone's gardens doing? My tomatoes look sick, the leafs are turning black? Something is eating the peppers. Not happy here at all. We've dusted them, but whatever is destroying the peppers seems to be resistant to the dust. I thought possibly a cut worm? The leaves of the peppers are cut off. I could cry at this point, because I'm soooo mad. Oh well, every year is a new adventure in gardening. I hope you all have a better year than we're having!
  5. I know, I told hubby that I needed his waders!
  6. Thanks much, if no freaking rain in the morning, I'll get it done!
  7. Sprinkle around the roots of the plants? Thanks for the info!
  8. Has anyone used for tomatoes and peppers? I bought some today to use. I've read some info that says to sprinkle it around the base of the plants and others that say to mix with water and spray on the plants. If anyone uses it, what do you do? Thanks much for any information, and have a wonderful weekend!
  9. Yes, pictures please? And btw, I love this thread!
  10. We can't wait to see the pictures, I wish I could help, but I stink at that stuff and have no patience at all for technology, . I'm hoping someone will help you with posting the pictures!!!
  11. I want to try it, one question, do you just mix the veggies with the dry stuffing mixture or make the stuffing first and then mix together? I'm thinking the dry mix? Thanks!
  12. When we first bought our house and started the garden, things went well for the first two years for some reason. And then on the third year the deer, groundhogs and rabbits just decided it was theirs. I had beautiful pepper plants, the only thing left were the main stalks sticking out of the ground. Green tomatoes that were bitten into and spit out. You could actually see the teeth marks. Everything was destroyed Then we went with an electric fence. There have been a few times that a deer has tried to jump it and got in, but not too much damage. And occasionally a baby bunny will get in under the lowest wire, but they never do much damage either. I plant by the moon phases, so by 5/24 I plan to have my beets, kohlrabi and a few other underground things in. Then I have to wait a few days for the above ground veggies. I can't wait
  13. I am so going crazy waiting to get my plants in. All of the seeds that I planted myself are doing great! And now I see we may get snow on Saturday night, good grief! I just can't wait to get into the dirt and plant everything, but I do know about our May frosts, so I have to be patient. Good luck to all of the gardeners out there!
  14. Beautiful birds! One of these days, one of these days
  15. That is so wonderful! I absolutely love birds except for the damned crows, lol! But, the sound of a rooster crowing in the morning is one of the best sounds ever. I've always felt sorry for townies who've never experienced it.
  16. This reminded me of when we had a pine tree in the back yard and hearing the baby crows. OMG, what a terrible sound that was. I love birds, except for crows.
  17. Those are beautiful birds! Does anyone else LOVE to hear a rooster crow in the morning?
  18. I grew up on a farm and miss that life. We do live in the country and have a barn. We're just so crazy with work. But, soon I hope (crossed fingers) I'll have some extra time.
  19. We were at Tractor Supply last week and I spent most of the time admiring the chicks. I sooo want a chicken condo and raise some of them when I get the time!
  20. I'm just looking for some suggestions. I've called all of the local places and I thought I'd get the expert advice from the Go DuBois folks too. I'm going to start some strawberry plants this year. I'd like to plant some June bearing and some ever bearing. I've heard that the Quinault (ever bearing) are really good ones. Agway will have them next month. I did see them at Lowe's from the place in Alabama at 3.98/pot, holy cow! Anyway, do any of our expert gardening ladies/gents know of anyplace to find either ever bearing or June bearing plants at a reasonable price? Thanks!
  21. Lol, so after I posted last night how disappointed I was that only one had sprouted, I checked first thing this morning and four more came up, yeah!!!! I'll probably soak my remaining seeds in some water and plant them too, just in case. I have big plans for them this year and I'm hoping to get at least 40 plants. Here's hoping and thanks to all for your advice and assistance as always! I'm going to start a new thread for some more help, stay tuned. THANKS again!!!
  22. I planted 24 San Marzano seeds and every one has come up and looking good, yeah! Now, to the Black Eyed Susan vines....not so good. I planted 45 and I have only one growing I've followed all instructions from every site and local advise too. UGH! I still have maybe 20 seeds left, so I'm going to try them tomorrow and see how it goes. If not good, please let me know if anyone has any for sale. I should know in a week or so. TIA.
  23. We have three 4 x 10's, but I really like the idea of 2' wide instead of 4'. We use the same mixture in ours that you do.
  24. I only have like 30-40 seeds from two tomatoes, they are sooo meaty and sooo good. I'm so hoping that they do well for me. I've bought plants from various places over the last few years that were supposed to be San Marzano, but they weren't anything like what I got last year from a friend. Here's hoping for the best!
