  1. I appreciate everyone's suggestions. I have tried these things in the past as I previously worked for an animal shelter and frequently had foster babies. But I just wanted to let you all know that the little girl is no longer pregnant as she miscarried on Saturday afternoon. I was afraid she was way too young and hoped I was wrong about her pregnancy. Nonetheless, she is doing fine now and back to her feisty self. She has become even more loveable and would really like someone who can cuddle with her all the time...............
  2. I previously posted about the kitten that showed up on our porch several weeks ago, and of course no one claimed her. So, since she (now called Peanut) has claimed me, I have a problem with my other cats. Both are adult, spayed females (Bella is 6 years old and Ali is about 4 years old). Bella and Peanut tolerate each other and will eat on the porch together but have spats at least once a day. Maybe because Peanut is definitely pregnant. Ali, who is afraid of her own shadow, is absolutely terrified of Peanut. Ali refused to go out on the porch and runs down the cellar steps when someone opens the back door to go outside. Unless someone claims this sweet little Peanut or I find a nice home for her (after the kittens are born and weaned), my house will become chaos when the weather starts getting cold again as I refuse to let the little girl stay out in the cold. Anyone with suggestions, please let me know. And if anyone feels the need for a new kitty I know where you can get one. Maybe even two pretty soon.
  3. A starving, young cat (about 5 months old) showed up on our porch about 6 weeks ago or so. She is all white except for a couple brown and black stripes on her forehead. She has blue eyes. This kitten was near starvation and took food right out of our hand the first night - even picked up the little cat dish with food in it and ran away with it! We have two spayed, adult female cats and a spayed Boxer. It's hard enough to feed and provide vet care for these guys as it is and I'm afraid this little girl may be pregnant already. She was showing signs of being in heat and a very large Tom was hanging around, fighting with one of my other cats. Now the little girl's nipples are beginning to show and she has a little round belly. Since I've been working with her to gain her trust - she was polluted with fleas and ticks and her ears were aweful - I am able to hold her (she loves to cuddle now) she's become quite friendly and playful. We live on route 28 between Baxter and Summerville - She may have been "thrown away" as so many are up here in the woods or simply lost. She doesn't venture far from the porch. I made her a nice box with a towel that she's grown quite fond of. The porch is covered so it stays pretty dry. Anyone know anything about this little girl?
  4. I read this before as well, but is still brings tears to my eyes. Whether or not it is true, as someone else commented, it really is a story of love. Thank you for sending it around again. We could all use a little more love.
