John B. "Jack" Green, Jr., Age 84, of DuBois, PA died Saturday, January 3, 2026 at Christ the King Manor. Born on March 31, 1941 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late John B. and Mary Eugenia "Gene" (Shannon), Sr. On June 24, 1967 he married his wife of 58 years, Leah (Ford) Green. She survives. He was a 1958 graduate of St. Catherine's High School and a 1962 graduate of the University of Notre Dame. He served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Philippine Islands from 1962 until 1964. Jack was the President of Green Oil Company. Jack was a life-long member of St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church where he was active in church affairs. He had served as the Executive Director of St. Catherine's High School Alumni Association and in 1991, was awarded the Papal Cross by the Vatican. Jack was a strong community volunteer. Organizations including the DuBois Area Jaycees, the DuBois Area United Way, DuBois Public Library, the DuBois Area YMCA, Reitz Theater, Cultural Resources, and DuBois Area Catholic School benefitted from his strong organizational and fund-raising skills. He was also awarded the 1982 DuBois Jaycees Distinguished Service Award. In addition to his wife, Jack is survived by his children (John D. Green and his wife Amy of Rochester, NY, Joseph P. Green of DuBois, Anne E. Cross and her husband Lance of Decatur, GA, Daniel F. Green and his wife Donna of Charlottesville, VA, and Marie C. Andrews and her husband J.C. of Phoenix, AZ) eleven grandchildren (John Andrew, Theo and Rachel Green, Lila and Jack Cross, Alex, Leah, and Calvin Green, and Reagan, Mikayla, and Jaida Andrews), two sisters (Joan Scibetta of Santa Cruz, CA and Genie Bassett and her husband Chuck of Lady Lake, FL), a brother (Michael Green and his wife Marilyn of Sarasota, FL), and his Ford in-laws. He was preceded in death by a sister (Patricia Green), and brothers-in-law (Dr. Charles Scibetta and Jerry Ford). Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 from 4 to 7 p.m.at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 10 a.m. at Holy Spirit Parish at St. Catherine of Siena with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant. How is everything going in the coop! The 6 chicks I got this spring are winners in egg laying. In early December they started laying little eggs which are no about the regular size, but they are so bright and delicious. Hubby has been bringing in up to 9 eggs a day, so I think they even got the old hens in on the action. I had this happen before with chicks starting to lay in the winter, but some waited till spring. Now to figure out what kind they are so I can get them again.

I finally found someone local with extensive experience with Windows 11 and computer set up and repair. It's almost like talking to Randy again! Also, SSD is good but you cannot recover info from it if it crashes. You can sometimes from HHD. When you get a back up hard drive, you plug it in, back up what you want to, and then unplug it.

I wish that some place like Jeff Tech still had computer classes that you could afford. Heck, I used to go to homes to teach basic computer skills such as e-mail, games and Word. That's about all regular users needed or wanted. I went to lots of classes in Reynoldsville and Brookville and that, with Bookkeeping and Power Point, is what I've used all these years. Without it, I would also be playing games..........yuck! With what I was taught then, it was enough basics to figure out most of the new stuff. I would happily pay an individual good money to come to my house to teach me the newest stuff like this. One class would probably take me a long way. I do not learn well from books. Randy Scott and I raided a dumpster many years ago for parts to build computers. Where he was working, they replaced rather than repaired, so the manager gave us permission to do it when the store was closed. (Is it OK to confess by now?) Neither of us had more than a penny for disposable income, and he ended up making an occupation out of it. I taught him the basics of using a computer, and he built one for me which I couldn't have afforded for years after that. He was a hoot, and I miss him. Stupid people who created Covid.
