Harvey Mungaknuts
Ok GoDuBois gardeners, we have lived here 16+ almost 17 years this tree has bloomed in our yard every year. We have yet to actually know officially what it is. some say flower almond. bark almost looks birch family. never gets any fruit or pods or anything other than these pink flowers and once they are gone just green leaves. Gilb3314
I have a bachelor crab tree that is that color and is now starting to bloom, it is beautiful for a few days, but this pic is so big that it doesn't quite look like the same, those buds look like roses. If you can get it smaller, maybe I could tell.

Harvey Mungaknuts
Not mine Rose of Sharon is just starting to get a little green on it not even close to being ready to bloom. this other one is just loaded with the flowers. usually the fist thing to bloom in the spring around here besides the pear and apple
Bon
it's not a rose of sharon, they don't get flowers till June, July, August and sometimes September. I just put a pic on there to show what one looks like ...lol.
jettavwdrvr
It's definitely not Rose of Sharon...mine aren't even blooming. Is it a pink camellia?
Petee
That looks like a particularly beautiful and old flowering cherry. They are relatives of the rose but I've never seen buds that gorgeous. If you watch the video you will see a shot or two with the rose bud blossoms although they are not as beautiful as yours. http://www.squidoo.com/japanesefloweringcherry

Harvey Mungaknuts
I gues it could be that Petee. bark would fit a cherry as well does not have the drooping branches though these are up and out in every direction. Has never really been pruned except to cut it back from over the driveway. thanks all
