wildflowerpa
Anyone know of a good fly deterrent other than a shotgun? We have them bad and can't figure out why. You kill one and 10 more appear.

Victoria
We have a ton of little gnats when we go outside, and of course fruit flies. I went by the WMart produce bins and about choked on fruit flies. We don't have big flies, but bees are everywhere.
PSTeach
Use a canning jar with a little bit of vinegar in it. Make a paper cone with a tiny opening in the bottom, wide enough at ttop to seal the jar. Make sure the bottom of the cone doesn't touch the vinegar. Tape it securely in the jar. The flies will enter the cone and not be able to get back thru the little hole. This always works for me. There are several variations of it out there. * Didn't realize this thread was so old, but it's that time of year again!
BMRanch
No lie, try having grape vines in your back yard. Vinegar is not helping our fruit fly population.
