Recommended Posts

Richard Rose Jr. of Troutville was in Clearfield County Court Monday to be sentenced on charges related to child abuse that he was found guilty of at a March Jury trial. The criminal complaint states that authorities were dispatched to the DuBois middle school for report of child abuse. The victim told authorities that his father, Richard Rose, confronted him about being disciplined at school. Rose threatened to smack the boy stating “it will bring blood.” Rose and the victim went upstairs at the residence at which time Rose whipped the boy 12 times and struck the victim in the face. The child had bruising on his face, a fat lip, and bruising from slightly above the knee to his waistline that resembled the width of a belt. At trial Richard Rose claimed his children caused the injuries in an attempt to frame him. Prior to Rose bing sentenced a letter written to the court by one of his children was read, and spoke of the abuse and how the children are all better off now that he is no longer in their lives. At various times during court Monday, Rose could be seen shaking his head and at times rolling his eyes. When asked if he had anything to say, Rose stated no. Richard Rose was ordered to serve 8 months to 2 years, less one day, in the Clearfield County Jail, and 4 years probation. He was ordered to pay $700 in fines, plus costs of prosecution. It was noted that this is a crime of domestic abuse.
