  1. Thanks! She was nervous, but I thought she did an awesome job. Mama looked a bit like a dork . . . but daughter was awesome.
  2. Well, she was chatty Cathy to the woman until they turned the camera on and then she got suddenly more shy, but she still did great.
  3. Just FYI: Grace of "Grace's Goodies" will be a guest on Central PA Live on Tuesday, August 26, which is "National Dog Day." She will be preparing her homemade dog biscuits for the audience. Of course, she hopes that if you decide to use her recipe, you'll make a donation to her cause for Gateway Humane Society, since she is giving away her secrets on television. Central PA Live airs on Channel 10 WTAJ at 4 p.m.
  4. Thank you all. I will pass your well wishes along to her. If any of you are interested in helping out, she is still selling her "Do Something" t-shirts for about another week. http://www.booster.com/dosomething2
  5. Yes, the numbers were all over the place in the story. The night before they were different from the morning report. LOL. The facts are: Last year she raised $1,592 for Gateway Humane Society and another $85 for the Jefferson County Humane Officer to buy a piece of needed equipment. This year (so far) she has raised $1,600 (and counting) for Gateway Humane Society. So, all total so far about $3300. Not bad for a 10-year-old. She's also got close to $100 that she has earmarked for buying pet oxygen masks for a local fire department who doesn't have them. It seems as though Brockway FD and Ambulance already have them, so I believe she plans to buy a set for Horton Township.
  6. I just happen to know that little girl. She's a good kid.
  7. I was wondering the same thing about my tulips. My landscaper put bulbs throughout my landscaping last fall. They were too spread out to practically cover them, so I knew they were going to get frosted. Do I just cut them off at the ground now?
  8. No, Storybook Forest is still open and operating. It's part of Idlewild Park in Ligonier.
  9. Ya know, I don't think I have ever posted on the "Gardening and Nature" Forum before . . . and I think maybe I never will again . . . :shok:
  10. I meant the MORNING GLORY . . . obviously . . . *ahem* . . . :HM::2fun:
  11. I could swing by and just touch it for you. I'm REALLY bad with plants. Pretty sure I could kill it.
  12. Let me preface this by saying that I am NOT a gardener at all. I have a black thumb. However, we have a very large bush in our backyard that our neighbors tell us is a Rose of Sharon. It must come out of where it is because we need the space for our children's swingset. I would think something like that could be transplanted, so if anyone is interested, please send me a private message and you are welcome to have it. My hubby will even dig it up (or help if it turns out to be more than a one man operation). Also, we have a couple of large shrubs behind our garage. I'd say they are about 6 feet high. They are probably in total about 8 feet wide. (This is several shrubs together making up that width.) They need to come out, too. Same as above -- if someone can use them and they are transplantable, you are welcome to them.
  13. Not really. Hubs just wants to get the area filled back in and leveled before snow flies. I think it's mostly done blooming. I haven't seen any new ones on it lately. Petee -- Do I need to wait until the blooms fall off? Or just when no new ones appear?
  14. No prob, VP! End of week should work for us, too. We are heading out Saturday early early AM to Hershey for an RV show, Zoo America and Chocolate World for the kiddos and the Hotel Hershey Chocolate Spa for my friend and me. Yahoo!! 8)
  15. VP -- We have the Expedition that we could hook up to it. My hubs will probably just need some help digging around it and you will need a truck to load it in. We dug out a much smaller one earlier this week and delivered it to another friend's house.
  16. Cool! When do you want to come get it? Send me a PM. It's kinda big, so it might need pulled out with a truck or something.
  17. I have a large white Rose of Sharon bush in my backyard that needs to be removed. I hate to just dig it up and toss it out, so if anyone would like it, please let me know. It's big! I can send a pic if someone is interested.
  18. Thanks, Steve! I do Weight Watchers (Core plan) and would love to swap recipes with anyone else doing WW. This recipe is Core: Canadian Bacon Potato Soup 2 medium onions, chopped 4 medium potatoes, peeled and quartered 2 cups fat-free chicken broth 1 can fat-free evaporated milk 5 slices Canadian bacon, chopped 1 packet Butter Buds 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/8 teaspoon pepper 7 tbsp. fat-free sour cream 1/3 cup minched chives In a large saucepan or Dutch oven coated with NS cooking spray, saute onions until tender. Add potatoes and broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer 20 minutes until potatoes are tender. Set aside 1 cup potato mixture. Puree remaining mixture in food processor and return to pan. Stir in milk, bacon, Butter Buds, salt, ppper, and reserved potato mixture. Heat through, but do not boil. Garnish with 1 tbsp. sour cream and sprinkle with chives. Serves: 7 I actually put a little frozen corn in it, too, just for more veggies and it was good! I made a double batch and put half in the freezer for another meal.
