  1. I am so confused by these posts!! How can people argue over a dog with a lump on his leg...geesh!!   Kiki...if it isn't bothering him, (pain) I would try and get him in as soon as possible...like Monday, or Tuesday...but keep an eye on it incase it gets bigger or starts to cause him pain, then I would say to get him seen as soon as possible!

  2. I spent $800 to find out my boxer had the flu....Ran all kinds of tests and nothing showed up, 2 days later he was ok and the other 2 were sick...grrr, and no...I didn't take the other 2 to the vet!!!

  3. Can I ask what is wrong with your pet?

When you know in your heart that the animal is suffering....or will not get better and is in pain..

Please don't keep it alive just for you...many do, and it's not fair to the animal to suffer just to stay with you...and they do try to stay alive for their human...

  4. Bring them in at night is always a good idea because only varmints are going to be after them after dark. Once they find it they will haunt the area till they can get it again.

Bluebirds require lots of open field type area. It would be extremely rare to find them in town. They don't even want to live close together.

Yea...that's what I read online....so hopefully if we ever get out of this stinkin' town, I will be able to lure bluebirds in!!

  5. We have about 7 bird houses at the present time....was wondering how often they should be cleaned out?

We haven't had any birds stay in them for the wintertime, that we know of, altho I saw a bird I hadn't seen before, go into one house a couple times the other day...

I just cleaned out my bird feeders and filled them for the 1st time this fall....didn't see any birds hit at them today tho....I love to see the cardinals in the yard...

Moved the feeders this year because the area we have had them in for the past few years became feeding grounds for moles that made the ground real spongy...

Anyone else fill their feeders yet?

Wish I could get the blue birds into the back yard....I think cardinals and blue birds are the best...besides hummingbirds in the summertime!!

  6. we have lost 3 dogs over the years and we have 3 little urns on a stand in my bedroom..it is sad to even think about them, but I am glad their ashes are near.

I also have an urn with my oldest boxer Stogie inside....makes me feel better he is close by.....:(

  7. I can remember when I was small and my grandparents would go out and spray down the fruit trees with water early in the morning after a frost...does this work? I can't remember if it did....I was pretty young.....

  8. i think it will come back, lavendar or petee can probably say for sure. Maybe find some wire and put around it

That's what I told her too....put a small fence around the bottom of the plant....

Waiting on one of them to answer.....thanks!!

  9. And the bunny won....it ate the clematis!! Now the question is, will the clematis come back? This is from a friend of mine....

Came back in from covering my flowers (frost?). Only to find that a damn rabbit took care of my clematis! Grrr! I should've listened to the cashier at WalMart when I bought it. She said her mom had the same trouble w/ the little pests! Do they grow back? Or should I say screw it and plant something else? The flowers & leaves are gone. :(

Can any of you help?? :)

  10. But prefer bulb flowers so I don't have to plant every year...

Need some suggestions on what grows well in the area so I can add color to my backyard....

I will try and get a picture tomorrow of my backyard area....I have a rock garden next to my deck and that is where I want to put the bulb flowers...there is also a small area by the fish pond that needs something.....but my butterfly bush towers over that one....

I already have hostas, daffodils, primrose and one other flower that comes up every year...along with a bleeding heart that looked awful last year when we bought it, but looks great this year...

I would rather get rid of some rocks in the rock bed then to go without flowers....:)

Also if anyone is interested in hostas...I might have some to give away....and also what I believe is the rose of sharon bush (tree).....we have them coming up in places they shouldn't!! :)

Just pm me here and I will see what I have....

  11. My recipe I finally found was real close to this one, but the recipe called for 1/2 cup bisquick and 1/4 cup of oleo.....I found it before this was posted, so I used it...hubby said it was good!!  ;)

Mine was always "weeps" until my mother in law told me to use whole milk instead of 2%. so much for lower fat content in the pie. I tried it and they were firmer. also if you add more eggs that helps too. Also if you're using frozen berries be sure to let them drain good so the juice doesn't thin the custard. This is the one I use. You can cover the edges of the crust so they don't get too brown. Just uncover them before it's done baking if you want them a little browner.

    EASY CUSTARD PIE

    4 eggs

    1/4-1/2 cup sugar

    1/4 teaspoon salt

    1/4 tsp. vanilla (optional)

    1 1/2 cups milk

    Nutmeg

    Cinnamon

    Pastry pie shell

    Blueberries

Beat eggs slightly, add sugar, salt and milk. Gently stir in berries.Pour in unbaked crust. Sprinkle with nutmeg and cinnamon and bake in a preheated oven for about 350

  12. I am in desperate need of a custard pie...hubbys birthday and he doesn't want a cake..he wants a raspberry/blueberry custard pie...but my custard doesn't always come out very firm.....grrrr... :)

  13. Thanks!! I think today looks like a good day to move the flowers to were we can appreciate the colors of the flowers....

I got the bleeding heart early this summer but it hasn't grown much where it is, that is why I thought I would move it to hopefully more sun...

The iris's are down front and can't be seen by anyone, and I love iris's so I want them in the backyard where we spend most of our time..... :)

  14. Just wondering what zone we are in? I have an outside plant that will do ok outside if in the right zone.....

I also have a portulaca (sp) that I am gonna bring in...will it survive the winter?? We have been able to keep the bogonias alive thru the winter, but haven't tried any other outside plants....
