Foxfan got a reaction from wrangler05 in Harris Du Bois Theatre
Wednesday night at the Avenue theatre was LUCKY {like bingo}.night. Everyone got a few LUCKY cards at the box office, with your movie ticket. Before the movie started,.or half way through, a big rolling board was rolled out onto the stage, and numbers called until someone yelled LUCKY !. A lady named Mrs. Bojalad conducted the LUCKY session..I think she was related to the owners of the theatre, the Marlin Way family.{who also built and owned the Highway Drive In Theatre}.... There were maybe 10 or 15 winners a night. The winner selected a numbered envelope hanging on the board for a prize, usually $10 to $25 dollars. {not a bad prize, then}...They frequently gave a prize, maybe a cup or saucer, or even a plate, etc. as a lure to get people in..The theatre was usually very full...Those are very happy memories of a much simpler time.

Opera Houses and Theaters in DuBois
The City of DuBois has had a number of theaters over the years. Some contained stages and others contained movie screens. Either way, the locals were entertained.
An Opera House was built in 1880. It opened in November and was destroyed by fire the third night after opening
The Central Opera House opened on January 2, 1883 and seated 900. White pine was used instead of steel. The third and fourth floors were used for the opera house. In the beginning, due to the City

Yes, also the 'Playhouse'.DuBois had 3 theaters, at one point..remember those were the days before TV...The 'Carlton Theatre' was located on Long Avenue, where the DuBois Historical Society is now located. The Avenue Theater ran 'serial' cowboy and indian movies every Saturday. You had to go every week, so you didn't miss an episode. It cost .25 cents admission. Gene Autry, the singing cowboy, Roy Rodgers and Dale Evans, The Lone Ranger, and Tonto were the stars we went to see, though the serial movies were mainly not so well known stars. Then down to Nick's for a hot dog, for .20 cents, or Widman Teah for a cherry coke....

My two Lhasa's had two beds like Bo Bo's until they ripped them to shreds, with stuffing all over like a snow storm. Now they have only their furry blankets to sleep on. Tough Luck, guys.

Foxfan got a reaction from Bon in Bigfoot: If It Exist, Here's Where To Find It
If Bigfoot had any guts, and wanted to gain some creds, he'd be over in the Poconos looking for the cop killer.. That would convince me beyond doubt.

Foxfan reacted to Bennyboy1 in Euthanization Guilt?
my mom lost 2 of her beloved dogs, 3 months apart. She had the last one put down because he was beyond help anymore (he had a long wonderful life). she chose to have him cremated and the reason I even mention this is because of this ironic twist:
after searching for a reputable rescue group and for a new family member she could handle (size wise, she downsized), we drove almost 2.5 hours one way to pick up the new member of her pack. On our way home, after the adoption papers are signed (and endorsed with a wet kiss from her new "baby") she received a call that the ashes of the recent loss were ready to be picked up.
The new girl we brought home is sooooo much like the most recent one that she lost that it is scary. she has a lot of his mannerisms and personality similarities. I think he approved of the new addition and that call was just his way of say "it's okay Mom, I like her!"

If your vet thought there was something that would of helped your cat they would of done it. A vet wont put an animal down just because. You did the right thing since you saw he was having a hard time. Don't beat yourself up over what ifs. Maybe the other cat had something totally different than what your cat had. Your buddy is running all over Kitty heaven having a good time!! I'm sorry you lost your friend, I know what it feels like...

Yes. When I had to take my 11 yr old boxer to the vet for the last time, almost a year ago. He was starting to fail, not eating or drinking, weight loss. I could not let him suffer even though it was hard on his people we done what was best for him. I miss him a lot but could not let him hurt.

you did the right thing, don't ever feel that you did not. It will hurt emotionally no matter how or when the time would have come and your situation was most likely different than that of the person you referred to. No matter what, you did the humane thing and assisted your loved one end the struggle. It has been almost 2 years to the day since my Sly has passed and not a day goes by that I don't think of him. But I know I gave him a good life and in the end I was there to help him cross the Rainbow Bridge. *HUGS* Just remember you did what you had to do at that moment, you did no wrong. don;t second guess yourself.

Foxfan reacted to etsaunt in Pet Question
We went through this 5 years ago with my 16 YO shih tzu. My husband told me she would let us know when it is time and she did. One day she look at me with very sad eyes and her tail was down, her look told us it was time, she was tired and her pain was getting worse. It was one of the hardest things I ever did but I did not want her to suffer anymore. She always gave us joy so we wanted to give her peace at the end.

Foxfan reacted to Pappy in Bigfoot killed in Altoona?
I am betting the same guy who called 911 emailed or had someone email Big foot society.
The email reads;
'Today in Somerset county PA a turkey hunter shot and killed an animal he claimed is a Sasquatch. The state police were called and responded to the scene, according to chatter on the local police frequencies the officers confirmed there was an unidentified animal shot and killed. Details are a bit fuzzy at this time.'
A bit fuzzy. Now there is a laugh. Seems whenever there is anything about Bigfoot everything is a bit fuzzy such as pictures, video cameras. I have bought disposable cameras that take better pictures than I have seen. There was a time when I thought there might actually be a Bigfoot etc. As the years go by and the hoax people keep showing up and producing and claiming lies my beliefs have changed. Especially after watching Bobo on tv. He should be on the comedy channel LOL
