  1. Tonight is peak, up to 150 per hour. Midnight to before sunrise. I'm looking sooner & should be good as clear skies! Lasts until December 17.
  2. Think I was in upper last time. Because of what you said about child, Marine 4, I'd like to go again. Do you know how he died?
  3. The obvious answer Paul got this am was "No thanks, not me." If you're afraid of hard work, well, maintenance is not that hard. If you're afraid of cemeteries, well, you must be watching too many scary movies - plus it's daytime! If you could've showed up but didn't, well then, you're just plain heartless. While I was there today I couldn't help but think of all the hard-working people back in the olden days. I felt proud helping out today. By the way, I claimed an area my family will mow/weed on a regular basis. I hope more people will step forward to give the Rumbarger Society & volunteers a break they so deserve. Amazing what has already been done! I can see how a few more helping hands could mean the world to them. What a beautiful view & it's so peaceful up there. Make it an ongoing beautiful place with just a small piece of your time.
  4. My check for $50 is ready to be mailed out tomorrow am.
  5. Can't wait till I see what this cemetery really looks like as I never imagined it was eight acres. Only thought it was just a small old cemetery along the highway. Walls? Wondering how big/long? Will be very interesting to look @ the old tombstones, too. I always find myself imagining life back then.
  6. Saturday, July 9th - what time & where do we park?
  7. Well then, Foxfan, that's your prerogative to just lie there, on this side, & do nothing.
  8. Yes, that is sad. I like the idea of adopting a part of it. My family's on board.
  9. How could I forget??? We are: Du Bois-Sandy Greenway Partnership
  10. We had a very successful meeting. Got to look @ some maps, also got some real good info & history from Rich. We talked short term & long term goals. If anyone wants to take a Sunday AM walk to check out the proposed greenway (trail) just meet us @ Shower's Field @ 9 am sharp (behind magistrate's office on Maple Avenue). That's this Sunday. Will take prob. an hour or two. Wear hiking gear & some spots will be wet. There is so much to do and this is such an exciting project! There has already been some cleanup going on. We are only in the very beginning stages but will have much more to report on soon. Please join us if you can!
  11. You need a bicycle bell or a loud horn for those people you describe.
  12. PM your contact number so I can forward to some young men who are willing to help with the cleanup down @ the tunnel. This has been their neighborhood growing up & think it's a great idea. Also, I know one specifically who is very interested in helping with the entire project to get it up & going. Looking forward to this wonderful transition and, of course, will do what I can to help out.
  13. I used to run from Highland St. & down across Maple bridge & out to the mall years ago. There was a path then & a train also out to the mall. Got caught one day between the water/bank & climbed up the steep bank waiting for the train to pass, only slightly frightened hanging onto some weeds for support. Anyway, I think any improvement would be great. The plan, if I'm correct, is to eventually connect with other trails/towns. That'd be amazing. This thread is not for couch potatoes. They cannot understand the natural euphoria experienced with being in touch with nature. More people should get out, they might like it. Biking is easy, fun, and a great stress reliever. By the way, the Brockway to Ridgway trail is such a beautiful & flat trail. Definitely one of my favorites!
  14. I remember as a child my mom would tell us to keep away from them in a panicky voice. Never heard of a problem with infestation with those guys. Look up diatomaceous earth on the internet. Non toxic & kills critters. PM me as I have some if you want to try it & you don't live far from DuBois area.
  15. Sorry but that's so funny & only because it didn't happen to me! I haven't seen a stink bug for years----hope that just didn't jinx me.
