lavender
Is the vine a weed or an ornamental plant? Annual or perennial? Flowers? It is easiest to key down a plant from its flowers when it is in bloom. I identified an annual (weed) vine for someone last year that is rather uncommon around here. It was a burr cucumber. Maybe you have another one? http://www.ppws.vt.edu/scott/weed_id/siyan.htm

lavender
Just out of curiosity are you up on the hill near St. Catherine's? That was where the other one was. It had gone to seed before the home owner destroyed it.
lavender
Or I guess it could be the wild cucumber but I think they grow more in the woods. http://www.microscopy-uk.org.uk/mag/indexmag.html?http://www.microscopy-uk.org.uk/mag/artoct06/bj-Cucumber.html Count the seeds; bur cucumbers have one seed in the pods, wild cucumbers have 4. lavender
I never saw one before last summer either. Maybe there are more of them around than I thought. As far as I know, they aren't good for anything. According to the Ag Services they are a bad weed in cornfields where they tangle up the equipment. Also, they will reseed themselves, like most weeds, so I don't know if you want to keep it.
