    Sharan L. Zartman, Age 73 of Leonard St., Clearfield, Pa died Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Penn Highlands Clearfield.

    Born on August 21, 1943 in DuBois, Pa, she was the daughter of the late Earl & Elvira (Lundberg) Zartman.

    Sharan worked in government services in Washington, D.C. for many years.  Previous to that, she worked for Frankfort Arsenal in Philadelphia, Pa.  

    She was a talented artist, and enjoyed playing the guitar and was very musically talented.

    She is survived by 2 sisters (Emily Holt of Brockway, PA, & Lona Stine of Clearfield, PA) 1 niece (Christine Morrison of Brockway, PA) and 2 nephews (Mark Stine of Marysville, PA & Adam Stine of Silver Spring, MD).

    She was preceded in death a niece (Teri Holt).

    Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2017 from 9-11 a.m. from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium., Inc

    A funeral service will be held on Saturday from the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Terry Felt officiating.

    Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.

  2. Helen R. Cian, age 81, Diamond Street, Penfield, PA died Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at her home.

    Born March 20, 1936 in Tyler, PA, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Anna (Kosin) Seduski.

    On April 7, 1956, she married Lewis M. Cian.  He survives.

    Helen retired as a hostess from Steak-N-Snack after 11 years of service.

    She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.  

    Helen is survived by three sons (Steve Cian and his wife, Valerie of Andrews, SC; Craig Cian of Montgomery, PA; and Todd Cian of Monaca, PA and a daughter in law, Kim Cian of Bradford, PA), a sister (Dorothy Van Horn and her husband, Laverne of DuBois, PA), a brother (Edward Seduski and his wife, Laura of Penfield, PA), five grandchildren, and two great granddaughters.

    She was preceded in death by a brother (Stanley Seduski), a sister (Pauline Kurtz), and a daughter in law (Ruth Cian).

    There will be no public visitation.

    A memorial mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at 10 A.M. from St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.

    Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery.

  3. Janet B. Beach, age 86, formerly of Locust Street, DuBois, PA, died Saturday, July 15, 2017 at the Ridgeview Health Care & Rehabilitation Center in Curwensville, PA.

    Born December 15, 1931 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Alice (Luther) Beach.

    She retired from Rockwell International Manufacturing in DuBois, PA.

    Janet was a member of the former Trinity Lutheran Church in DuBois, PA.

    She is survived by a sister (Dorothy Beer of DuBois, PA); a niece (Shari DeCasper and her husband Anthony of Clearfield, PA); and three nephews (Jack Williams and his wife, Claudia of Sunbury, OH; William Beer, Jr. of DuBois, PA and David Beer of San Jose, CA)

    Janet was preceded in death by her brother (Jack T Beach), an infant brother (Luther Beach) and a sister (Ann Williams).

    Viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 from 10-11 A.M. from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.

    A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at 11 A.M. from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. with Pastor John Miller officiating.

  4. Norman R. Homan, age 96, Earth & Sea Lane, DuBois, PA died Monday, July 10, 2017 at his home.

    Born April 30, 1921 in Williamsport, PA, he was the son of the late Ralph & Joyce (Dewey) Homan.

    In 1942, he graduated from Penn State University.  

    During World War II, he served in the United States Navy as a Lieutenant.

    On April 19, 1944, he married Adelaide S. "Sandy" Homan.  She preceded him in death on August 24, 2006.

    After the war, he went to work for Pan American World Airways in 1951, and in 1953, he worked with Lake Central Airlines in Indianapolis, Indiana.  Lake Central Airlines merged with Allegheny Airlines in 1968, and the name was changed to U.S. Air in 1979.  He retired from U.S. Air in 1984, and moved to Treasure Lake.

    Norman enjoyed going to the DuBois Area Y.M.C.A. and fantasy baseball.  He was a member of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Polka Club.  As a follower of Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin, he was a devout believer in Deism.

    Norman is survived by a daughter (Marjorie Krampe of Rockport, TN), two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

    Visitation will be held on Friday, July 14, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.

    A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 14, 2017 at 1 p.m. from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. with Pastor Kenneth Sherwood officiating.

    Burial will be in Lakelawn Memorial Park in Reynoldsville, PA.

  6. Ross D. McClure, age 64, West Weber Avenue, DuBois, PA died Sunday, July 9, 2017 at Penn Highlands DuBois.  

    Born March 19, 1953 in Curwensville, PA, he was the son of the late Paul & Maxine (O'Laughlin) McClure.

    He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. having served during the Vietnam War.

    On May 17, 1980, he married Pamela J. (Godo) McClure.  She survives.

    He retired this year from Gasbarre Products in DuBois after 23 years of service.

    He loved to ride his Harley Davidson and loved his pugs, Bella and Shadow.  He was an avid Pittsburgh Penguins and Steelers fan.

    Ross is survived by two daughters (Noelle McClure of Spring Mills, PA and Tawnia McClure of DuBois, PA) and one sister (Barbara Feeser of The Villages, FL).

    He was preceded in death by three brothers (Marlon, Merle and Ronald McClure).

    Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 from 6-8 P.M. at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.

    A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 11 A.M. from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. with Pastor Terry Felt officiating.

    Full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard from the funeral home. 

    Burial will be in Crown Crest Cemetery in Clearfield, PA.

  7. Zita M. Hinderliter, Age 89 of DuBois, PA died Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Penn Highlands DuBois.

    Born August 8, 1927 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the later Alvin "Frank" & Mary L. (McMahon) Hinderliter.

    Zita was a clerk at Hays Drug Company in DuBois for 30 years where she enjoyed her work.

    She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, and enjoyed watching television, especially the Pittsburgh Pirates.

    She is survived by a sister (Claudia Lyle of Brockport, PA) a brother (Daniel "Boone" Hinderliter & his wife Carol of Brockway, PA), and numerous nieces & nephews.

    She was preceded in death by 4 sisters (Mary McManus, Margaret Harvey, Joanne Castiglione, & Barbara Roper) and a brother (Edward Hinderliter).

    Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 from 3-6 p.m. from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.

    A scriptural wake service will be held on Tuesday afternoon at 2:45 p.m.

    A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at 10 a.m. from St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.

    Burial will follow in St. Catherine Cemetery.

  8. John P. Catanzarito, 71 of Treasure Lake, DuBois, PA died Friday, July 07, 2017 at Penn Highlands DuBois surrounded by his loving family.

    Born August 24, 1945 in Punxsutawney, PA, he was the son of the late Michael A. Catanzarito and Mary Louise (Stigers) Catanzarito.

    He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps having served in Vietnam during the Vietnam War.

    On March 4, 1967 in Sykesville, PA he married Connie (Henry) Catanzarito.  She survives.

    John retired in 2005 from the State of Pennsylvania as an auditor.

    John was an active member of Tri County Church and always knew how to “be the church” by serving and loving those around him as he strived to be more like Jesus every day.  John’s greatest joy was his family and especially spending time with his grandchildren.  He and his wife Connie enjoyed traveling and since retirement have had the opportunity to vacation many places both nationally and internationally.  He was an avid hunter and collector of all things hunting and tools.  He was the first person you came to when you needed that hard to find item.  Those who knew John have witnessed his sense of humor and have probably been the brunt of one of his many jokes.

    He is survived by three children (John Catanzarito and his wife Leslie of St. Francis, KY; Dana Johnson and her husband Jim of DuBois, PA; and Michael Catanzarito and his wife Jennifer of Ashland, OH) , 3 sisters (Frances Tattersall and her husband Dickson of Brookville, PA; Mary Lou McConnaughey and her husband Dave and Kate Kyser and her husband Joel both of Punxsutawney, PA) 3 brothers (Michael Catanzarito and his wife Phyllis of Northeast,MD; Joe Sutton and his wife Donna and Dominic Catanzarito and his wife Becky both of Punxsutawney, PA), 6 grandchildren (Haley, Brooke and Judah Catanzarito; Brady, Zach and Karley Johnson).

    Visitation will be Monday, July 10, 2017 from 4 – 8 P.M. from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.

    A funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 11 A.M. from the Tri County Church with Pastor Chris Trethewey and Pastor Dan Smith co-officiating.

    Full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard from the church.

    Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.

  9. John C. Halstead, 81, died at his home in the Treasure Lake area of his boyhood home of DuBois, PA on July 5, 2017. He was born on September 4, 1935 to Charlotte Peterson.  

    John (known among friends and family as "Jack")  grew up in DuBois, graduating from DuBois High School. , He then joined the US Navy where he was stationed in Gander, Newfoundland and met and fell in love with his (now former) wife Anastasia O'Rourke. John and Anastasia divorced in 1983. 

    They raised four loving children in Pepperell, MA, two of whom predeceased him:  Sandra Lee, born November 23, 1957 and Gerald David, born March 22, 1959. He is survived by two daughters, Tamela and Michele, and their children and partners; as well as a wonderful new grand baby: Tamela and Jon Swan of Dalton, NH; Lindsay Swan and Adrian Gudino and baby Gabriel of Scurry, TX and Ian Swan, of Brooklyn, NY. Michele and Richard Pearl have two sons, Ethan of Bozeman, MT and Oliver who is a rising senior in high school in Franklin, MA.  

    John had a long and distinguished career in electrical engineering, after graduating from Penn State on the GI Bill in 1962. He worked for technology innovators such as General Dynamics and Digital Equipment Corp, based in Massachusetts.  

    His retired life in Pennsylvania involved connecting with lifelong friends over golf and coffee at their local favorite spot.

    There will be no public visitation. We invite friends and family to join us for a memorial service that will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 12:30 pm from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. at 211 South Main Street, DuBois, PA with Pastor Terry Felt officiating.

    Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Pepperell, MA.

  10. Catherine “Kitty” Randolph age 76 of Ace Valley Road, DuBois, PA died Monday, July 3, 2017 at her home.

    Born on January 21, 1941 in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of the late James and Olga Signorelli.

    On July 6, 1968, she married James F. “Shady” Randolph.  He preceded her in death on February 9, 2013.

    She was the owner and operator of This Old House Bar for many years.

    She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the James J. Patterson Post 813 Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Sandy Hose Co. #1 Fireman’s Club.

    She is survived by three children (Jennifer Horne of Ephrata, PA; Steven Randolph and his wife Kelly of DuBois, PA; and Michael Randolph and his wife Tammy of DuBois, PA), 12 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by her daughter (Cheryl Wulfert; a Brother (Tony Signorelli) and 3 Sisters (Georgetta Jarvis, Rose Spudich and Bertie Jarvis).

    Visitation will be held Friday, July 7, 2017 from 5-7 PM at Baronick Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc. 

    Private funeral services will be held the next day from the Baronick Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc.

    Burial will be at Luthersburg Union Cemetery.

    Memorials may be sent to the charity of the donor’s choice.
