  1. A new born fawn. Mama hid her just inside the woods behind the garden. Must have known she was safe there with the dogs guarding her when they go out LOL Not sure if this is a pic of mama or not she was on other side of house. we have several does that use the property. she may have been a different mama and had her young on that side of the house. My wife was throwing some branches in the woods when she spied he hiding in the thicket behind the birds nest with eggs. They will be new additions also pretty soon. If you look down the middle of the garden and alittle to the left beside a tree at the edge of the woods you can just make out a scrubby looking bush. The eggs are in there and the fawn just a few feet further in.
  2. This is what I was thinking of trying to make. Maybe not in my lifetime but hopefull others could enjoy it after I am gone.
  3. I planted some grapes last year and plan on planting more. I need some advice on building a trellis type for them. specically if you know where I can find the posts. I thought about redwood posts and then adding to it later on to make it kinda like a pergula (sp) with the grapes hanging down. Anyone with pics of their Grapes and hanging system would be appreciated. I have been online and saw many different styles but thought IO would ask people on here for their input on what works best for them.
  4. This dog does NOT want to go to the kennel! His reaction is priceless! This dog's reaction is hilarious! His owner is telling him that he has to go to the kennel and he's not happy about it at all. His reaction is great! It's almost human!
  5. Summer looks like the energenic one.

    Euthanization Guilt?

    My sentiments exactly.
  7. Sorry to hear that. Cherish the time you have left with him.
  8. Sorry to hear about your mother in laws and your loss of a beloved member of your family. Animals do melt your heart and for those of us who understand we feel your pain. I must say i did get choked up reading your posts. I thought back to several of my own dogs that I lost and have been dreading the day when one or more of my three I have now passes. I will at least know that they will not be alone as the other dogs will be there when we are not. My last dog passed away by himself. We were at work and came home to find him. I had him to the vet just three days prior but there was no indication he was going to pass that soon or at all. we knew the leg was cancerous and thought he was going to have to have it amputated but it was not to be. He was lying by the front door waiting for us to come home. I still tear up knowing he died alone and wishing I had been with him in his final moments.
  9. I had a Rottie that had a lump on his joint like that. It turned out to be cancerous. I would take your dog back immediately and get it checked out. it may be nothing but it very well could be. Do not wait to long.
  10. Lil Wrangler 4-H Pancake and Sausage Dinner- Today 6am to 7pm or until sold out Adults $8.00 Children 12 and under $5.00 Dine in or take out At the Warsaw fire hall For those that do not know where this is at it is the Hazen Flea Market Location on Route 28 between Brockway and Brookville
  11. http://www.abatepa.org/Events/State_Party.html You already said the address. Their annual party if this is the one you are talking about is held on Eagles nest road. The falls Creek Eagles owns this property I believe you could contact them or the pa abate chapter. They still have this Abate state party there at Eagles Nest every year. Their contact info is below. Egytp road is just off route 28 between Brookville and Brockway. If coming in from Brookville side North 28 its a few miles past the flea market. You could turn up Egypt road and then Eagles nest is on right or you could just go past Egpyt road and turn left onto Eagles nest. Looks like you would be coming in from Brockway. It is about 7or 8 miles out of Brockway on right side. After the long straight stretch you will have a right curve, then a little ways up a left curve. You will go up over the hill and just as you are cresting down over the road is on the right. Small dirt road. Here is a map of the road http://mapq.st/GX93fu GPS: N 41
  12. I can't understand why more people who claim to see him do not do this. Like the guy in Bradford in his car. he should have gotten out and ran up to whatever it was and gotten better pics. I know if I see one Im going after it especially if I have a camera. This guy running makes it believable but then you have the blurry pics again. LOL
  13. The Aristotle's seem to grow more per plant and the King Authurs are a wee bit larger. I have around 100 pepper plants. Think next year I will plant more of those two and less banana styles
  14. Petee I went out to the garden to see exactly what those ones were. Either King Authurs or Aristotle. They are all big so not sure where we picked that one.
  15. My tomatoes plants were huge but they did not produce much. I believe that pepper was a King Authur and didn't feed them anything. I use mushroom compost and thats it. If they grow they grow if not well there is always next year. I go out and look at the garden but I do not use any chemicals. Heck I dont even like weeding so I put weed barrier down. It may have been the pool water LOL A hose broke on my pool and I lost all the water down to the return nozzle. it flooded my garden the pepper area anyway. I thought for sure everything would die off.
  16. This one was at Keystone Dam off of route 210
  17. The blurry one is of the heron in flight I couldn't keep up with the camera and focus. Top left you can make out out his feet and tail. The fawn was in the neighbors yard eating apples.
  18. For some reason the peppers realy took off this year. I have tons. here is one of them. Don't mind the floor I am remodeling and ripping up the carpets and some of the sub floor to make it flat and putting down bamboo.
  19. yes they do Jay there are variations in color as well. Also known as a peacock moth Description: Io moth, also known as the Peacock moth, are one of the smaller North American silk moths with a wingspan of 2-3 inches. The female is noticeably larger than the male and its forewing is a purple-brown color. The male forewings are mostly yellow. Both sexes have a beautifully colored underwing marked by a black dot. The larva is green with maroon stripes edged with white along each side of the body and is covered with stiff spikes that are quite irritating to the skin when touched, and very painful if they penetrate your skin. ( probably what your husband experienced wildflowerpa)They can grow to be about 2 inches long. Damage: Larvae feed on leaves of many shrubs and bushes, such as hollies. Larvae should not be handled with bare hands! Life cycle: Larvae feed on cherry, willow, elm, boxelder, aspen, maple. The winter is spent in a cocoon. Adults emerge in late spring or early summer and oviposit eggs on host plant leaves. Larvae develop through several instars over a period of several weeks before they pupate.
  20. That's what I did. I took mine to Brookville Cooperative Extension on Main Street.
  21. I had my soil tested last year and took in a peeper plant to have tested. My soil was good and the plant had broad mites which killed off all my peppers last year. I must have got rid of that problem this year and my soil is good. WMJ77 I had mine done in Brookville they sent it to Penn State. It was $9 for the test kit. it had all the instructions and you just put the soil in the package and mail it off to them. They will send you the results. The pepper plant I took over to Brookville and she mailed for me. I do not believe that cost anything. Penn State Extension 180 Main Street Parker P Blood Block Brookville, PA 15825-1234
  22. I plant them and let them grow and that's it. I till the garden up which is only an hour or so. This year I used a weed barrier. I usually just put newspapers down and then mushroom compost on top. This year it was weed barrier and mushroom compost. The hardest part was cutting all the holes for the plants. With newspaper you just push the bulb planter tool through it with the cloth I had to cut the hole first. Next year wont be so bad as all I have to do is use the bulb tool. I guess it does take a bit of time to plant everything but once they are all planted. I just leave them go. My wife will spray an environmental soap on some of the plants like the cauliflower but other than that. I just leave it go. The best part is I do not have to weed. The extra work when planting is well worth it. The only problem with chipmunks I have had lavender is they ate all my strawberries the little buggers. The garden has come a long way considering it looked like this when I first started. It's not very big either. I believe 18 foot wide and 40 feet long.
  23. My garden is doing very well this year as far as plants growing and not dying off. I haven't lost a single plant this year which is very unusual. My tomato plants are growing great the only problem is they hardly have any tomato's on them. I have some plants that are taller than me growing and they seem to be cherry tomato's. Problem is I did not buy any cherry tomato's. I believe the place I bought them from mislabeled them. Now my pepper plants are doing excellent. I have lots of peppers already but no darn tomato's to make sauce. Looks like we might have to buy tomato's again this year. I posted a few pics of them. I seem to like the camera I bought my wife and am constantly using it. I may have to buy me one so she can use hers.
