  1. I don't know any Brittons, unfortunately.  Have you tried FB?  You'd be surprised the people you can find with social media word of mouth.   :)  Good luck to you!

I have been sharing/comparing with some descendants for a long time.  We are all stuck (our brick wall) with this Joseph who was born ca. 1786 in NY.  He lived at Shippen, McKean County (cencus records).  There is a death record in Cameron County for a Joseph about the right age in April 1870.  Many have him (this family) confused with the Brittons of the Beechwoods settlement.

  2. Also looking for any Brittons who can be traced back to Samuel or Joseph Britton, McKean County ca. 1840's.  Sam came to Jefferson County, Joseph, his father, possibly died/buried in Cameron County.

  3. I am interested in finding out if anyone has knowledge of who might have access to a records book for St. Catherine's Cemetery in DuBois.   Specifically Collins and Carroll possibly in unmarked graves almost straight up from Simmons St.

  4. Remember when girls wore snow pants to school?  We had to wear dresses and when it was cold we were allowed to wear snow pants under our skirts but had to take them off when we got to school.  Times have really changed!

And those rubber over-the-shoe boots that either buckled or zipped and had fake sheep fur around the top.  My grandma made me put bread bags over my shoes so they would slip on and off easier and keep my feet dry if there was a hole in the boot.

  5. The story continues:

"The more than 2,000 comments ranged from true believers to those concerned with the well-being and supposed mythological powers of the rarely spotted beings, but eventually the department put the speculation to an end, admitting it was just meant to be humorous.

"We always try to have a little fun with our Facebook and Twitter feeds," department spokesman Tim Tait told ABC News. "That way, we don

A suspicious pack of what appeared to be a group of large animals has sparked a viral debate about a possible sasquatch sighting in Arizona.

The Arizona Department of Transportation was behind the latest announcement -- and conspiracy theories began to grow after they posted a photo from a highway patrol camera.

It wasn't Big Foot enthusiasts reading too deeply into a suspicious photo; the government officials were the ones to suggest that something sinister -- and mysterious -- was going on.

"We might have spotted a family of sasquatches on SR 260 near Heber this afternoon. What do you think?" the Department of Transportation wrote in the caption of the photo it posted to their official Facebook page on Jan. 1......"

  7. MOSCOW, Sept. 18 (UPI) -- Moscow researchers said they have evidence an Almas -- a legendary primate known as the Russian Bigfoot -- is wandering the woods near the city.

Andrei Stroganov, a biophysical technologist at Moscow's Agricultural Academy, said he collected a fragment of tree bark near the city that bears the signs of having been marked by a large primate, and he fingered an Almas as the culprit.

"The Almas is cosmopolitan," Stroganov joked when asked about the creature living so close to the capital. "I am not worried: They are benevolent and need our protection."

  8. Usually coins left on a stone or memorial have been left by a fellow serviceman.  Others sometimes leave coins or small stones/pebbles to show the family that someone has visited.  I enjoy visiting one grave where my parents are buried to see what is new.  Young fellow who died in an accident, friends leave him a beer, can of Skoal, etc.  Nice that he is being remembered.
