some history of the JE DuBois Lumber camp photo:
The camp was in Hicks Run. circa 1907. Man in the front is Woody Kelly. He was responsible for the camp. Lumber was cut and sent down stream to the mill in DuBois. The camp had modern facilities - hot/cold water, bathroom and sewage. Woody Kelly is also know as the first game commissioner in the area. The bear in the photo is drinking a beer and was the camp mascot. Woody Kelly was my husband's great grandfather and the women in the far back of the photos were his great (or great great) aunts and cooked for the workers.
