A large fine to the entity will only serve to further increase the rates charged to those of us that are REQUIRED by our residency in certain areas to use the services.  I would prefer that any large dollar amount go to those injured, instead of to line the pockets of some government agency.

In some states the worker compensation laws prevent lawsuits from being filed.

What If The Employer Was At Fault For The Death?

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration could levy fines or penalties if it determines that the worker’s employer violated safety rules or regulations, but fines and penalties do nothing to help the family of a worker killed on the job. The Pennsylvania workers’ compensation system, however, may provide financial assistance to the surviving family members.

What If A Third Party Was At Fault For The Death?

Family members also may be entitled to compensation through a negligence claim when a third party is responsible for a worker’s death.

With Advance Disposal knowing they were fined a measly $12,000, will they really be concerned about  future violations?

If they do not correct the problem or continue to operate in a unsafe manner the fines will increase substantially. Click on story about this plumbing firm. They were fined closed to a million dollars for not correcting their violations.

  3. I just read that whole article. I really don't think it's right for the ones who have had them for years, & I don't mean 5 years either. There are lots of farms in that area, they aren't allowed to raise chickens? If it were me who has raised them for years, I would tell them to go cluck themselves!!!

State College allows chickens. If they can write a ordinance allowing them then a rural area should be able to.

  4. We've been told about it from the time it was first distributed but it takes time to do research studies.  They have to wait till something happens, then prove how it happened, then they will deal with it.

The solution, eat as organic as possible, grow as much of your own food as possible, eat as healthy as possible.  Something's going to get everyone of us but if you want to die peacefully in bed, then it's probably not going to happen if you make your bed with chemicals.

People are more likely to get sick from second hand smoke, having indoor pollution( Radon, carbon monoxide, incomplete combustion from oil or wood burning furnaces)  than any chemical residue on food.

People eating organic food are no more healthier than ones that consume non organic grown food.
