VikingPrincess
Found this fella in my garden today, I don't remember planting it, but it sure is pretty. I had no idea what it was but I Googled and found it to be Ornithogalum umbellatum, or Star-of-Bethlehem. All the websites say this is an invasive plant and is toxic. Should I get rid of this? It sure is pretty but I don't want it if it is dangerous or a nuisance plant. Any experiences with this, and how in the heck did I get one? Spoonie
I have two in my flower bed I planted and they aren't any more now than there were 5 years ago when I planted them. They were bulbs. I think they are beautiful.
Petee
I'd say you got an unexpected blessing and just enjoy them!
lavender
I got some of them over 20 years ago and haven't had any trouble with them. They will bloom only in sun and perhaps all of the shade I have here keeps them under control. They are easy enough to dig out if they get out of hand since they are a small bulb. Even if you miss some they don't reproduce that fast. As for toxic, well so are lily of the valley, foxgloves, rhododendrons and hundreds of other plants.
