BigT
Why did they call it Lumber City?? I don't think it was big enough to be considered a city.
Guest curwensville
Why did they call it Lumber City?? I don't think it was big enough to be considered a city. It was laid out to be a city. Not sure what happened. Mahaffey and Hyde were to be cities too.

Back in the 1970's I was in Hyde quite a bit. If anyone asked me where I was working I would usually say in Sin City. Lots of trailer courts with a lot of shacking up going on! Just kidding about Hyde being Sin City. There were a lot of nice & good people there too.

Guest curwensville
Lumber and stone were the main products at the time.
Petee
Just think what might have happened differently in those little towns had plastic and steel not come along. Would it have been better to have remained dependant on natural products and less chemical development? I'm reading a 19 book fiction series written primarily by Peter Danielson on the difference that iron made in the Middle East. It makes you think and wonder.
