  2. And from the Philistines was coined the word Palestine.....which was ruled by Israel even before that time. OK, forget the books and let's go directly to history. https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/07075332.1980.9640202#:~:text=The earliest in common use,the death of King Solomon.
  3. OK Fed Up, check the rest of the story above, pre-Ottoman rule. The Israelites ruled that country BCE. There were no Palestinians, just roaming bands of Bedouins who owned nothing and chose to live that way.
  4. Facts About Israel: History The birthplace of the Jewish people is the Land of Israel. There, a significant part of the nation's long history was enacted, of which the first thousand years are recorded in the Bible. 2010 Edition Section of an illuminated late-medieval map of the Tribes of Israel (Courtesy R. Ben-Haim) זכר ימות עולם בינו שנות דור ודור... - דברים ל"ב:ז Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations... (Deuteronomy 32:7) The birthplace of the Jewish people is the Land of Israel (Eretz Yisrael). There, a significant part of the nation's long history was enacted, of which the first thousand years are recorded in the Bible; there, its cultural, religious, and national identity was formed; and there, its physical presence has been maintained through the centuries, even after the majority was forced into exile. During the many years of dispersion, the Jewish people never severed nor forgot its bond with the Land. With the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948, Jewish independence, lost 2,000 years earlier, was renewed. Archeology in Israel involves the systematic investigation of all the remains of the country's past - from prehistory to the end of Ottoman rule. The profusion of material remains is evidence of the many cultures that have left their imprint on the Land. Above all archeological research clearly reveals the historical link between the Jewish people, the Bible and the Land of Israel, uncovering the remains of the cultural heritage of the Jewish people in its homeland. These visible remains, buried in the soil, constitute the physical link between the past, the present and the future of the Jewish people in its country. This unbroken chain of history can be observed at sites all over the country. Jerusalem, the capital of Israel, has been the focus of extensive archeological activity and remains of 5,000 years of history have been revealed. TIMELINE OF HISTORICAL HIGHLIGHTS 17th-6th C. 5. Gee, they created the state of Israel out of thin air. Hmmmm! Interesting that it was called Israel in the Old Testament and Palestine was divided in to Judah and Israel. Maybe SA Hoover could dig into the pre-Ottoman status of Israel. It existed even before the Ottomans.
  6. I want to know exactly which restaurant because when employees refuse to truthfully answer the police, they certainly aren't someone I want to support. The only one I know opening on the Boulevard is in the old McDonalds. Is there another one that I don't know of?
  7. Also, most trees produce lots of fruit every other year, not every year. If you get a heavy crop one year then the tree will have a very light or non-existent crop the next year. Of my five, only one produced well this year but the other four dropped all of their apples early in the spring. They were not able to replace enough carbs in their roots to replace what they expended last year so once they were fertilized, they dropped what they knew they could not finish.
  8. I did not call you a liar, you're just uneducated. The books I mentioned are based on history and were best sellers for years. I'm sure the political history is convoluted and tailored to represent exactly what Truman wanted people to remember. Every president or political tries writing a book in an attempt to explain away how things that turned out was or wasn't their fault. Very little of it conforms to actual history. Remember Hillary's "It takes a Village". Sure. Read what the common man wrote for all the world to judge, then read some more. Soon you'll see a pattern of truth. It's hard to create a story that agrees with other authors when based on lies. History can't be changed for those who have no reason to change it. Truth is far more interesting than fiction.
  9. OH, and just in case you decide to read, try books such as the Haj and The Kite Runner. They're about Palestinians and how they treat their own people.
  10. The land that you think was given to them was given to them by GOD, they then conquered and civilized it, shared it with anyone who chose to be peaceful, and built it into historic cities. Then the Romans destroyed and burned everything they could find, murdered many and transported the rest to other countries as slaves and exiles. They were not permitted to return to the country that they owned. The Palestinians who were basically Bedouins, living in tents, allowed the land to degrade into swamps and desert. They destroyed huge olive groves to starve people, killed off flocks of animals, burned fields and terrorized their own people. When the Jews started coming back after being killed in pogroms in foreign countries, with everything they owned being stolen, not permitted to hold jobs or live in their own houses, American and worldwide Jews and Christians build a fund to buy land by deed. It then belonged to the Jews, twice! Again, the Palestinians killed and destroyed their homes taking the money and trying to take back the land. The Jews finally fought back and when they backed Egypt into a corner of that country, instead of violence, they simply held the line till the UN took notice. The UN simply returned land that they legally owned, while giving back land that was indefensible. They tried to be fair but it was impossible since Jews are builders, and anything they own, they better so the previous owners then wish they had it back. Whole communities of modern Jewish buildings were simply taken away and given back to the Palestinians for free. Others, they fought for and kept legally. The Palestinians are still fighting to get back what was bought from them and developed. They do NOT own it, and they do not improve where they live, or live peacefully with their neighbors. They were given the Gaza Strip so they would have a seaport of their own in order to develop businesses, but they prefer the profits of war versus hard work and good ethics. Israel is one of the countries that sends aid to the needy in Gaza. Not every Palestinian is so stupid. Many of them see the reality and try to work with Israel, just to be murdered along with their families on a daily basis. You never hear about it but it goes on continually and they have no way to get justice. Thes ones killing their own people and attacking the Jews are hardened criminals and uneducated individuals. Women in particular are still tortured and killed for something as simple as giggling at the wrong time or letting their burka slip half an inch. You willingly spout untruths and idiocy that damages those who read and have no idea what is truly going on. How does that improve our world? Tell me about the dangers of ignorant and misled people.
  11. You are wrong or so many fronts! Why do you not educate yourself before spouting off such misinformation. Jews BOUGHT the land that they were living on from Palestinians who upped the prices if they were selling to a Jew. Then they would murder the Jews and take the land back. They destroyed and murdered the residents of entire Kibbutzes. Britain which was overseeing the process refused to back the Jews for fear of political and economic retaliation, and took the part of the Palestinians at every chance. During the 7 day war which was fought to stop that violence after the British finally picked up and ran, the Jews fought, sometimes with home-made weapons and backed every country in that area into a corner, including Egypt. In any area where they were overrun, they were murdered mercilessly. The Jews were NEVER accused of such brutality. They fight way TOO ethically which is why they win. Get the book and READ!!
  12. The land originally belonged to no one specifically but roaming bands and tribes. The Hebrews conquered it at God's command. They led it through many centuries till it was overtaken and the Jews were sold off into captivity and exile in foreign countries. The land went to ruin as swamps and deserts. Little by little Jews came back and began to rebuild Palestine. They were murdered and their homes and crops destroyed. They rebuilt and more Jews came back to rebuild even more. They beat every country around them into submission which a homemade army and without massacres. In 1947 they were given a homeland so their people could return to being a united people. Since then, they have rebuilt the entire country into a thriving land with a tremendous military. There are cities, homes, farmlands, orchards, businesses and peace till someone decides they want what the Jews built. If you want an introduction to their history, read any novel by Leon Uris, starting with Exodus.
  13. Yes, it can drain even the most Yes, some families are losing everything because ONE person in that family develops a gambling problem, and it can happen very fast!!!

Lying is a sin against God, but a coping mechanism to humans. So who can deal with humans if they choose to lie, no one except possibly a court, and can we always trust them? Humanity doomed itself when they tossed the only strength of this world to the side of the road and let our children believe that we can govern ourselves.
  15. And no one saw this coming? Where is Israeli Intelligence, or who was impeding them?
  16. No one messes with that country and lives to enjoy a victory. They forget whose country and children it belongs to.
  17. In the end, nobody ever wins but the HOUSE!! The movies make it seem like you can do it, but in reality what you might occasionally win is peanuts to what the syndicate takes in. Don't like taxes? At least everyone gets back something for their money.
  18. They're hors'doeuvres for the gambling casino!
  19. Anyone know if something is happening at Scotties Donuts? A few days ago here was a group of "business" men standing on the sidewalk looking as though they were inspecting it.
  20. Then he'll probably release it at Point State Park so it can enjoy the wilds.
  21. There is already one across the street at the old Phillipps 66 gas station, or did it go out of business?
  22. I don't know if enough people around here are experienced enough to be confident in knowing what to order. Like Chinese food or Mexican food, there's a learning curve but it's easily learned as most of us now know. I have had top notch Indian food in New York City and Pittsburgh Strip District but I was with people who knew what to order. I got the buffet at their urging and tasted a lot of different foods. Some I went back for more and others ended with the bite I took in order to taste. I would love to have that choice when going out to dinner.
  23. Apples require pruning and shaping when they are young, the right place to survive well, and then some help with bugs and diseases. Some of the ones you are seeing are old hardy heirloom varieties that aren't sold anywhere anymore because they aren't the sweet juicy fancy developed apples we are used to today. This was an excellent year for everything that grows. Get out of your car and ask to taste one of the ones you are seeing. Odds are they don't taste as good as they look. Most of the hardier and older varieties were grown with a specific purpose in mind, and it wasn't just so you can pick it up and fill your mouth with instant juicy sweet-tart deliciousness like those from the market. Getting the one you really like and that will fill the use you have for them (fresh eating, baking, long storage, fall apples, early summer apples. soft apples, hard apples, crab apples, cider apples) means you have to make some decisions and dedicate yourself to caring for them for years till they reach maturity unharmed by what they experienced in their early years. By the way, not every apple will make a decent apple dumpling, and the commercial ones I've had a usually tough, terrible tasting and not worth the calories, they're not the apple dumplings that Grandma made. She knew all the special details and took time to make them just right. Yellow Transparent is a great apple but they fall off of the tree when they are ripe and then rot almost immediately. That may have been what you were seeing. They do NOT store at all. Not every apple is good for everything. That's why older generations of people learned to graft their trees which is probably what you are seeing in people's yards. They grafted for tree size, hardiness, storage qualities, early or late ripening, fruit texture, size and flavor. My 5 favorites are all in a row where I planted them, and with a little more work than I have put into them in the past, they would be everything I want in an apple crop. I get what I put good quality work into. I didn't inherit a farm with lots of old amazing trees that are now producing well but also falling apart. Trees have a life span. If you want to learn how to plant and care for apples of your own choosing, the ones you know are your favorites, then talk to a Master Gardener and learn how complicated/easy it is to grow those special apples. You can also call a Master Gardener and ask to have information sent to you, get out the shovel, go to a grafting workshop and buy good quality apple trees, then take proper care of them. You can learn to prune and feed your tree so you get more apples that are larger and healthier, and more to your liking. It takes time but you can do it. Master Gardeners are there for reason, and this is one of them. Their advice is researched properly and it's free!
  24. This is being repeated all over the internet by the best doctors. Besides Berberine, this is the best thing that has happened to Diabetics!
