Fair enough. If you feel like debating the Catholic doctrine vs Christianity sometime, let me know.

Just got yourself crossed off the preferred neighbor list.

To be fair, I baited the hooked.  Got one on the first cast, though wasn't exactly sure who it would be.

Whenever I state I am Catholic, someone feels compelled to want to debate/discuss Catholic teachings.  10 times out of 10, the discussion is meant to point out everything wrong about being Catholic.  Seriously, do you guys all take the same classes?  I could list your probable top 10 points of discussion and get at least 9 of them right.  Typically, you guys will use the same maybe 8 to 12 biblical quotes, as if being able to drop a few religious quotes make you a better Christian.  (Hey, at one time, I could draw the entire Periodic Table, recite The Jaberwocky, Kubla Khan, and recite 6 or 7 of Shakespeare's most famous soliloquies, but none of that made me an expert in poetry and literature nor a Nobel prize winner in chemistry.  It did win a few bar bets and impress a lady or 2.)  And most of you guys are hypocritical in telling me I need to open to Christ and welcome Him into my life.  But, if I am not doing your way, I am doing it wrong.

I am Catholic.  I gets its teachings.   If you thinks it is wrong, that is your problem, not mine.  Go pound sand.  You have demonstrated why I would prefer the gay couple with the trans kid.   For all I care, they could worship the Great Pumpkin.  I don't have to agree with their life to talk about the best fertilizer or whether or not Pickett is the future of the Steelers.  I don't judge them, they don't judge me.  Life is good.  The overtly religious guy on the other side of the fence? Busy judging me for being Catholic.  Just can't help himself.  I can always build a higher fence.  Maybe the next time I  find a rattlesnake under the shed, I will toss it over the fence for you to use in your next religious meeting.

A true Christian would not do what you described. I would not want to live near that person either! The 10 commandments were given to the nation of Israel, then are summarized and repeated by Jesus in the New Testament thereby fulfilling those of the Old Testament. However, God recognized that, by virtue of us being sinners, no one can perfectly obey the 10 Commandments, and are thereby in need of Gods perfect and perpetual Mercy and Grace that can only be found by the acceptance, faith and following of Jesus Christ!

    Catholic..Confession...I am covered.

Maybe someone on here has some excellent and experienced advice for what to look for in a generator.

Best bet is to contact an electrician.  Portable generators can be wired back through your electrical panel, but it must be done correctly.  They can also help correctly size the generator, based on your needs.

I have a 9000w which can easily run all my essentials...well, septic pump, furnace and house lights.  We can use the cooktop.  We do shut down or avoid using things so as to not overload the generator.  When the power goes out, I throw a special breaker, drag out and start the generator, and plug the generator into a special plug on the outside of the house.  I also have a 'mini shed' I built specifically to cover the generator.  The generater sits about 20 ft from the house...limits the noise and fumes.  Takes 5 minutes to get up and running.

Decent generator, with wheels and electric start wiil set you back around $750-$1000.  Can spend way more. (I have one generator I use regularly...a 8000w Predator from Harbor Freight--a Honda knockoff I bought for about $850 about 5 yrs ago).  Generators need to started at least evey few months.  The electrical work might cost around a $1000? -- really no idea, just a guess.  (An electrical contractor friend did mine for a pizza and 6- pack.)

I would want all my neighbors (and everyone's neighbors) to be true followers of Christ.  One could reasonably assume that even an atheist would want the same. For example, imagine if everyone followed just 3 of the 10 commandments thereby never stealing, never telling a lie, and never killing anyone. Similarly, imagine if all your "neighbors" (since neighbors is the subject) followed the Biblical "Golden Rule" “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you".  These are the kind "neighbors" I would want in my neighborhood and in everyone else's neighborhood.

I would rather live beside a gay couple, quietly raising their trans daughter than some bible-thumper constantly telling me how I should lead my life according to his version of how to be a true christian.

Werent the 10 commandments given to the Jews?

Any surgery should only take place only once the trans child reaches adulthold, age 18, and only after lots of therapy establishes that this desire isn't a whim.  Many trans persons elect not to get surgery at all. However I have no objection to a trans child living as the opposite gender. Or really any child. If a boy identifying as a girl wishes to dress, act and be called by a girl's name I have no problem with that. Surgery and hormones would be a nono until that kid is older. Same with a girl who identifies as a boy. From what little I've read if a toddler has these desires the kid is likely trans because gender/sexual identity is hardwired at birth. If a tween or teen suddenly expresses this desire it is more likely than not one of those phases a kid goes through that they grow out of.

As for parenthood, within a few decades extrauterine devices that can carry the unborn from conception until birth will likely become common. Also scientists are working on developing biological wombs that can be transplanted into women of any sort that lack one or have an unhealthy one. I would not be surprised if similar research isn't being done to create biologically accurate penises and testes. The future promises to be amazing. Biology is important but not that important.

As for who pays, in decades to come politicians will be under more pressure to use public money to pay for these procedures as trans people become more accepted by society.  Plus future politicians will themselves be more inclined to support these procedures. Then there are the various philanthropic foundations that will likely pop up to pay for them.

I have some bad news for you too. It is your very virility that is making bald. Alas it is the same for me.

If biology isnt too important, why do you have to have all these workarounds to overcome biology?

I have decided to identify as a 6ft 9 in African-American who can perform windmill dunks.  I want to try for a basketball scholarship and eventually the NBA.  The fact I am a 5/8 white dude with no practical basketball skills shouldn't matter?  Hey, my feelings will be hurt.  Everybody and everything needs to adapt around me.  Right?  Well no, I accept my biological/genetic limitations while being able to celebrate their chromosomal advantages.

Uterine transplants have occurred.  Some woman have even grown babies in these transplants.  Nothing about the process is even remotely natural.  From implanting the embryo to extracting the uterus so the baby can be born.  I suppose you could transplant a uterus into a man.  Still not even remotely natural.  Remember, men can't produce eggs.  Probably a lots of risks to the baby..all the added sythetic hormones and anti- rejection drugs.   But, hey, what's the big deal of sacrificing one human so another human can feel good about themselves.

I get it.  You want the world to conform to your view.  Biology is not plug and play...no matter how you wish it to be.  You want to create a synthetic world.

So, you willing to pay for my hair transplants?  My own damn biology is getting in the way of my happiness.

Well, let's start with this one which is what I would generally think of as Christian Conservatives.

I would have preferred something in your own words.  Nothing here really defined.  More like slogans.  I can easily intepret any of those 7 slogans into a liberal concept.  Even among conservatives, I you asked each to state what each of those tenets mean, you will get a vast array of answers.

Back to your original question of the makeup of your ideal neighborhood, the more correct way of stating your question would be along the lines of 'would you really have neighbors that think like you do or neighbors that have different views'?

If you had your druthers, then would you choose quiet religious/Conservative neighbors/children or would you want a neighborhood of adults and children raised as entitled, spoiled hoodlums all around your home?  Overall, would you want a well-adjusted neighborhood to live in the midst of or whatever else could be events around you that smell of WOKE?

Yiu really need to to further define what you mean by christian and conservative. Define entitled, hoodlums, and even woke.  Interesting that you somehow put entitled and hoodlum together.  I wkuld be willing to bet your definitions would differ from mine.

One of the great characteristics about the English language is its ability to add new words and add new definitions to old words. It does this not because of any conspiracy, but because that is the nature of the language. I hope you aren't so naive that you don't know that trans-woman will fit into the second definition of woman, or even become part of the first definition. And trans-man will similarly become the second or part of the first definition of man. Language changes, attitudes change, priorities change, expectations change, customs change. When transhumanism takes off the very definition of what a human is will change. Fifty years from now, if by miracles of modern medicine you are still around, you will probably still be railing against things you have no control over, much like the famous meme of Abe Simpson yelling at a cloud. Not good for your blood pressure. I'm older than you and getting upset over things (different things from what upsets you) isn't good for mine either.

As for paying for sex changes, with AI and related technologies I think it is feasible for people to have a say in what their taxes will be spent on. People who do not want their taxes to pay for sex change operations can then specify that. Those who do not object or even support taxes paying for them will give their approval. But whether that happens or not, as Ben Franklin said, the only two certainties in life are death and taxes.

The reason I brought chromosomes into this discussion is because people argue that if you are born with an XX chromosome or an XY chromosome that should determine how you identify yourself. I find the idea that a submicroscopic section of your cells should determine whether you-as a free adult-should be allowed to modify your body or determine how anyone-at any age-can self-identify is a most inane tyranny.

Being called a man or woman already embraces a wide range of characteristics.  There are very masculine women and very feminine men.  Whether you like hunting and rebuilding transmission or prefer needlepoint and flower arrangements doesnt make you a man or a woman.  Biology does.

I get it where you would like to discount or ignore biology.  It is something you cannot control or change.  Sure, you can cut off parts a manufacture parts to create reasonable facsimilies, but it it will never be or function like original parts.    You can also take drugs to suppress natural hormones or mimic hormones you cannot produce, but you are actively choosing to alter your biology. You will never be a biological father without testicles nor a mother without ovaries.  Sure, you can change the words all you want, but it's not going to change reality.  Painting it red and slapping on a Porsche insignia does not make an old Cavalier a sportscar.

At any age?  Really?  You want a 6 yo to be able to alter their physical and chemical biology by their own choice, long before they are capable of creating a true understanding of, well, anything?  A group that changes their favorite color from week to week, you think they should be able to make life altering decisions?

If you are self-identifying, you should be self-paying.  Self-identifying implies you are making a choice.  No one should pay for someone else's choices.  I would feel more manly and virile with a full head of hair.  You willing to contribute to my hair transplants?  How about paying for implants for women that would feel more feminine with bigger boobs?

I really dont care how you desire to self-identify.  I will even use your preferred  pronouns.  However, stop trying to pretend there is no difference between men and women.  Stop pretending biology doesnt matter.
