Prayers for your pup. Lumps are scary. I'm a dog lover and own 3. I have lost some along the way, too. Please let us know how your dog makes out at the vet. We anxiously await. Hugs to you and doggie.
Wish I could help. My family is from there and my grandfather worked mines there. He passed a few years back, and may have had some info. I'm going to follow this. Hope you get what you need.
Are there any pics of the main street where we can see the similar houses on both sides? I used to visit my Aunt and niece who lived there years ago. They lived in an old "company" house on the edge of town, and my niece's gram lived there, too. It was a very interesting place, and I liked going there and hearing it's history.
This is for Roger Natti. If one truly understood how wonderful it was in heaven, one would not want to stay here on earth one more second. I can say with all truthfulness and conviction, based on what I have read in the Bible, it's not going to be boring!
I am so sorry for your loss. I miss my 11 year old Sheltie mix, Riley, who departed this world on Wednesday, August 15, 2012. He was my faithful friend and was always with me. He will always have a special place in my heart.
Mining for coal is much safer nowadays. Most of the mines around here are surface mines, which are much safer. The Federal Mine Safety and Health Administration heavily patrols and regulates all area mines. This is still a thriving industry and provides many jobs for people in this area. Coal is also a less expensive energy source.
